Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

This lad has NO chance of starting for barca next season haha...he's been usefull for us, not irreplaceable tho. I'm sure he'll end up a very good player but he's years away from barca starter IMO.

Apart from glimpses he looks out of his depth here at times and I certainly wouldn't at this point choose him over mirallas or pienaar on a regular basis.

Not to fussed what he does next season tbh!

He's ready for La Liga, definitely. Not sure for Barca though.

Still think he needs development for BPL. Too selfish and naive at times.

He gives us squad depth which we can't afford to buy so I am fairly fussed. He's good enough for our bench right now and another year under his belt he could be pushing for serious rotation if not a starting spot ... especially accounting for the odd injury here and there.

Yeah I get he is selfish at times ... so is Barkley. He makes mistakes at times ... so does Barkley. It's called being a young player. They get better.

He won some points with me for his tracking back in the West Ham game stopping their attack.

I think he could have a bit of a break-through next year and I'd rather it was here than elsewhere.

Young, a lot to learn, looks likely he will be here next season unless barca feel a spell in a Spanish team would be better for him.

He would definitely be an upgrade on Tello who gets subbed on in most games. He would do a lot more with those minutes than Tello does also IMO.

I'd choose him over Kev, as we might not see the best of him if he is in and out. Some players you just need to put in and carry a little, and he may have that magic that will show more once settled.

Kevs had his long runs in the side and has mainly proven he is completely inconsistent.

Having said that I'd pick McGeady currently over either of them on the right.

Well that looks like the end, do not think though he will break into the front ranks of Barca next season unless he suddenly becomes sensational in his remaining games here.

He couldn't get in there team next season even with his experience this year, so he should just stay with us like...

We play nothing like Barca lad ahaaahahaha
Betis are struggling so I highly doubt they would send him there. We don't have the correct players to play like Barca yet.
Put yourself in his shoes, Would you rather go too Everton and freeze to death playing with the likes of Osman and Naismith or stay in Spain? No brainer for me.

Hmmm strange that lad because that's what the gaffer seems to think we are heading towards. Maybe you could have a word if you know better then martinez.

We are talking about a players development here and the best thing is for him to play in a team that plays like barca (obviously a more pep style barca with zlatan there holding up the ball to bring the wingers into play and nowhere near as good but deffo the same style) in a good leauge. But the point still stands if he isn't good enough for us he ain't nowhere near good enuff for barca.

but really nothing like each other have you ever seen either side play? The more I think about it the more dumbfounded by that statement. You don't need world beaters to play a certain style because it's just a style of play. To make it effective and work week in and out you need good players.

Typical of the low standards at the Guardian now, a headline or sub-headline(will not extend the loan) bearing no relevance to the quotes in the article itself.

Yeah I don't keep super close tabs on newspapers to know if things are slipping but I was surprised the Guardian would do that. Zero quotes in the article about ending the loan or not coming back IF he doesn't make Barca's team -- he just states that he wants to earn his way into their team (which since he is their player isn't all that outrageous of a comment).

I used to swear by the Guardian, I wouldn't pay much attention to a story until it showed up there, but the standards are almost at tabloid level apart from a couple of writers who mostly cover the european leagues.

Especially the attention grabbing and inaccurate headlines.

a lot of people seem to be forgetting that just before he got injured he was looking like he was going to be very important. He was playing great, and so were we. He has 2 games since coming back (i thought he was decent against west ham) and now people are like meh. I'd have him in the team over pienaar and mcgeady every time and if he stayed here next season I would be delighted
