That's very right. He played about a thousand minutes, often as a sub and often asked to create something out of nothing...Sometimes he had great midfield support but in the 2nd half of the season there was little of that...Yet, 4 goals & 5 assists
I think had he not gotten injured or Everton been competing for a top 4 finish, we would've seen more of him...And again, the question has never been whether he has the quality or scoring ability to succeed in top flight football but whether he could work hard on both ends of the pitch as well as play within the team
He is not the finished article, at 20, but he has a bright future and would be a shame to see it wasted warming the bench at Everton or any other Premiership side...Especially when you consider he won't be playing similar football with his parent club...Being in the rotation at Barcelona under Lucho (The man who first called him up to play for the B team from Cadet A), playing CL football and working on a daily basis with Messi, Iniesta, Neymar et al will be important to his growth as a player...If the attacking depth changes such that he would see even fewer minutes than he did under Martinez then a loan to one of many competitive Primera sides with playing styles that mirrors that of Barcelona would be far more logical...Adama, for one, is almost guaranteed to see more 1st team minutes in the coming season unless they loan him out as well which would make the competition for minutes even more complicated
Glad he got a glimpse of Premiership football after having been chased by several clubs since he was 13/14, will go a long ways in building on his already high level of confidence to succeed with the 1st team of Barcelona...I was skeptical that he'd be able to get into the rotation more than a year ago but he's been exceptional at every level he's played
Instead, he'll go back to Barcelona to warm the bench there.
