Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

He played about a thousand minutes, often as a sub and often asked to create something out of nothing...Sometimes he had great midfield support but in the 2nd half of the season there was little of that...Yet, 4 goals & 5 assists

I think had he not gotten injured or Everton been competing for a top 4 finish, we would've seen more of him...And again, the question has never been whether he has the quality or scoring ability to succeed in top flight football but whether he could work hard on both ends of the pitch as well as play within the team

He is not the finished article, at 20, but he has a bright future and would be a shame to see it wasted warming the bench at Everton or any other Premiership side...Especially when you consider he won't be playing similar football with his parent club...Being in the rotation at Barcelona under Lucho (The man who first called him up to play for the B team from Cadet A), playing CL football and working on a daily basis with Messi, Iniesta, Neymar et al will be important to his growth as a player...If the attacking depth changes such that he would see even fewer minutes than he did under Martinez then a loan to one of many competitive Primera sides with playing styles that mirrors that of Barcelona would be far more logical...Adama, for one, is almost guaranteed to see more 1st team minutes in the coming season unless they loan him out as well which would make the competition for minutes even more complicated

Glad he got a glimpse of Premiership football after having been chased by several clubs since he was 13/14, will go a long ways in building on his already high level of confidence to succeed with the 1st team of Barcelona...I was skeptical that he'd be able to get into the rotation more than a year ago but he's been exceptional at every level he's played
That's very right.

Instead, he'll go back to Barcelona to warm the bench there.

A great deal of upside to the lad but if he can,t look up in a game and see the bigger picture then he will hold himself back.

Consistent from the beginning, not like the vacillation that's commonplace here when it comes to Deulo

Theirs been no vacillation in regards to everyone's opinions of you on here though mate, since day 1 you've been pegged as a glory hunting whopper like. Most on here have actually seen the lid play more than you have done btw, so pipe down with your superior know it all attitude, you have no more insight into the workings on Barca and don't personally know the players like your familiar style of writing would suggest.

Your from the USA, you live in Switzerland, you live in a fantasy world that makes you believe your Catalan through and through and bleed Barca, mate put down your copy of footy manager and go out and actually watch a game of football live, supporting Barca for no other reason than they've been a dominant world force in footy since you got interested on ESPN or whatever is as plastic a show of fandom as you can ever get, posting as if your actually a Barca match-going fan is just sad mate

Frustrating no doubt about it. But I would like him back on loan for another season... he's got that something that makes you think he can turn a game.

Ask yourself , Could a see Deulofeu play in the Barcelona first team week after week ?.
The answer at the moment is a definite no. There was a reason Barcelona sent him on loan in the first place. It was not
because he had little flaws in his game ,it was because he had/has huge flaws in his game.
Superbly talented and has the ability to become a great player, but that is quite a bit off yet.

Compare his decision making and awareness with that of Barkley or Stones. They are miles ahead of him at this time.
I think another season at Everton is nailed on ...and I think in twelve months time if he continues to learn and progress
then you will have a serious player.
