Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

It will be interesting to see if he will develop into the player he and his current club believe he can be.

He was sound for us so good luck to him.

Th Barca thing could work out well as theyre not very strong as they once were at the moment so he should get opportunity. If he does turn out ace then he may aspire higher like Real Madrid who are in place to dominate the Spanish league for a while.

...as with Barry and Lukaku, it appears that Deulofeu's loan season has only enhanced his status (he's in the Spanish squad FFS)

That moment against Arsenal was huge. After totally dominating them in the first half but then going behind it was like a winner and moved the team's confidence up a level.

Shame if he doesn't come back but at the same time I'm not exactly devastated. He was a handy player to have but for some reason I'm not seeing the potential that others are seeing in him. I think he'll become a good player and that's about it, he's a bit too one dimensional in my book.

According to Whoscored, Gerard Deulofeu had a better shot accuracy (67.7%) than any other player with 5+ shots in the PL this season

well his 3 goals shows how pointless a stat that is.

i could pass 6 pea rollers to the keepers hands in a 38 game season and have 100% shot accuracy.

people with the best scoring accuracies is what counts.

Don't understand why people are so divided. At the end of the day we got to loan one of Spain's brightest prospects, which doesn't happen very often in this Country and he played his part in helping the squad achieve it's highest ever points tally.

He is a very young boy who took an opportunity to gain some first team football at a good level in a completely different Country and had to adapt everything, the weather, the language, the lifestyle everything from what he was used to.

Seasoned veterans who move to a completely different Countries take time to adapt. Some don't manage it(Veron for instance) despite world class reputations but thrive in other leagues.

I have no doubt another season here and we would have seen a better version of Gerard but he wants to try and forge his name with his hometown Club, no shame in that.

I wonder what kind of expectations some of you had of him, sounds like people were expecting a young Messi to win us the league.

Good luck to the lad I hope he fulfills his potential.

I tend to leave judging a player by stats to the silly American sports and use my own two eyes coupled with some general football perception to judge a player. I find that works best.

He's got potential and good luck to him but we tend to stop getting so overwhelmed by potential as we hit puberty as it often doesn't work out.
