Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Transfer rules aside, you won't get an argument from me. He had some skills that lad. As I said a minute ago, all he needs to learn is that he has team mates who are sometimes in better position to score than him.
Some consistency in working with the same Manager and teammates would help..rather than been shipped out each season...can be anything this boy

Are any of the other youngsters getting their chance in the first team or have they all been sent back to Barca B? I know that Munir was impressive in preseason but not been following any of the news since. If they are, it would suggest that Deulofeu didn't fit for some reason rather than your new manager isn't willing to give youth a chance.

In some ways it reminds me of Barkley - Moyes never seemed willing to trust him and not sure Hodgson does as he's complained that he gives the ball away too much. Martinez seems far more willing to accept those type of issues with precocious talents.

Munir, Adama, Samper, Sandro, Ié & Halilovic are all B teamers who have been registered by Barcelona for CL play and they will see minutes throughout the season in Copa Del Rey & Primera matches...Munir, in particular, is almost certainly going to be promoted to the first team due to the 10 match limit rule for Segunda players...His ascendency is remarkable really, he has come out of virtually nowhere and jumped more than 3 playing levels in the last 18 months nevermind a National cap for La Roja

I think Munir as well as Adama complicated Deulofeu's integration into the first team...Perhaps Gerard thought his talent alone assured him of a spot in the rotation but when he wasn't pressing like Munir or Adama, Lucho called him out in the press for it...Or again perhaps there's something going on in trainings that none of us are privy to, it certainly came as a shock to see him loaned out again...But it's true his situation is complicated by Munir, eventhough they really don't play the same position or offer the same options

Pedro is being rumoured, again, of leaving in the winter window since Suarez is nearing return and he can read the writing on the wall...That could free up the need for a wide player which Deulofeu is as opposed to Munir who is really a #9

As to the issue of trust, the situation is odd since this club prides itself, particularly over the last 7 seasons, on promoting youth players seeing that La Masia is the bedrock of the club...I'm just surprised Deulofeu hasn't been given more of a legitimate shot, I mean even Dos Santos was carried by the first team like some sort of groupie rather than player...It has all the trappings of trying to teach Gerard a lesson about tracking back but I think at some point the player is going to also see that the club is not really giving him an opportunity to show his qualities either...I understand both sides of the argument but felt ultimately there was a place for him in the squad...Enrique knows the player well but everyone knows Lucho's style too, no one will get special treatment and apparently Deulofeu has been missing something up until now...We'll see if he recovers it in Sevilla under Emery...hope he plays on Thursday against Feyenoord

Or perhaps, he is not good enough or ready to be playing at senior level......like Martinez has made out from very early on !!!!!!!

He's a one trick pony that has enough raw ability that he still manages to pull it off every now and again. Everybody sees the potential to develop his talent beyond the "step over, drop shoulder, go right" move and really become something special. But he never progressed at Everton.

"Never progressed" is a bit harsh isn't it? He was quite different at Newcastle than he was in his debut vs Stevenage. He was erratic, but that is a charge you can level at all our wingers except perhaps Pienaar and certainly about Barkley who has slighly more experience.

Initially it took him a while to get up the physicality and just as he was starting to get a run of form he got an injury that kept him out for two months. When he came back we were also trying to intergrate McGeady (who has his own issues with fitness).

Agree his progress wasn't enough that he was likely to get much time in Barcelona's first team, was surprised when he was recalled.

He may have gotten better at what he was already good at, but his weaknesses stayed the same.
