It doesn't - which is perhaps why Emery thought he could hold on to them. However the difference might be that Pedro now wants away given his age and lack of appearances under Enrique so Deulofeu might be brought back as backup since they can't buy anyone. But iirc Barca knew about the transfer ban before the loans to Sevilla were initially made, so how does that make this summer any different for them to last summer when neither was good enough to make the first team anyway? And Emery has shown little fondness for Deulofeu, in contrast he has several times criticised him in public and surely an inter club argument wouldn't stop you from putting a useful player on the bench.
Agree with your interpretation that Emery doesn't think either are good enough. Whether we should think the same is a different matter.
The only reasons I wouldn't want him back are people calling him 'Gerry', spelling his name like a spanner, and worst of all 'Del Boy'.
Agree about the political pressure to give him at least half a season, after building him up as the next Messi will be hard for them not to give him some run in the team and with the transfer ban that six months could well be the best time.It doesn't - which is perhaps why Emery thought he could hold on to them. However politically I also think Barca have to at least give him half a season in the first team squad and then they'll maybe sell him in January.
Who knows?
Either way I don't think it has anything to do with why Emery isn't playing him but I think we should stop getting our hopes up for the summer. If there's any chance it will be in January.
I think while he has a chance at Barca and I mean being picked for the first team squad and not loaned then he will want to give a go. It is Barcelona after all never mind his home team plus it's really not up to him.Agree about the political pressure to give him at least half a season, after building him up as the next Messi will be hard for them not to give him some run in the team and with the transfer ban that six months could well be the best time.
As for Deulofeu, pretty sure he'd realise that it was largely for show as Enrique has never given any indication that he rates him. Does he give it six months to see if he can make it at his boyhood club or is he so disillusioned and miserable he just wants out? And if he wants out, is he confident enough to try a new club and possibly league or would he prefer a club/manager/fans he enjoyed before?
The hope of him returning was always a slim one, for the weather alone if for no other. But at least there is one club, Sevilla, that we can be confident he won't be at next season.
I suppose most people would answer that with Yarmolenko, Persic, Konoplynka etc but they're all 25 years old and reaching their peak.
Deulofeu is 21 and won't peak for another 3 or 4 years both in terms of performances and value. By then those players will be on the decline.
Given Deulofeu's age I don't see too many I would have before him.
Agree it's likely he'll give it a try as well if the chance is offered, he'd probably regret it later of he didn't. Will also be interesting to see what Barca do with two other academy players that Enrique seems much happier about using - Adama Traore or Munir El haddadi.I think while he has a chance at Barca and I mean being picked for the first team squad and not loaned then he will want to give a go. You joke about Sevilla however it was probably one of a small group of clubs that he would have most likely gone to.
I'll spell it right when he signsThe only reasons I wouldn't want him back are people calling him 'Gerry', spelling his name like a spanner, and worst of all 'Del Boy'.

Yeah, Sevilla in theory were a good fit for Deulofeu. Have a nagging worry he'll end up at Arsenal tbh which would probably be good for him but depress and annoy me.
Liverpool? Will me make me physically sick. Anywhere but there...anywhere....
yes...even Liverpool (he wont go there). The sight of the French frog all giggly holding up the shirt with Deulofeu would make me physically illLiverpool?
I'd take Jezza back for reasonable money. The sheer pace of him and lennon would destroy teams and leave huge spaces in the middle
