Always used to be the case in this country that these clauses were illegal on the grounds that it was a clear interference with the selection/tactics of another Club, but just because it was illegal didn't mean it didn't happen. There would be a 'Gentleman's agreement' that the player wouldn't play against the parent club or else the loan wouldn't go ahead. The player would pick up a mystery knock or illness for that weekend or simply be 'rested'.

Not really IMO, they both seem like good decent lids who need a hug to perform, Ross clearly isnt getting managed correctly for my money.
Martinez has shown nothing to suggest he is capable of getting people to play, he talks the talk, but he hasnt been walking the walk this season.
Fair dos. I guess to me Deulofeu seems more cocky/proud and Ross seems more introverted.

Lets put this season down as second season syndrome.
As for Deulofeu I had a feeling Emery's tough love approach wouldnt work. Deulofeu strikes me as a nice kid who while arrogant is a also insecure which isn't surprising given the hype he's had all his career. It might not happen over night but in a team he feels wanted I think he would develop into a good all round player. There's no reason why not and IMO could even be turned into a No10 and have that be his best position.
He strikes me as the type who's more arrogant on the pitch, not in life, you know? Nutmegs and all that to piss you off - yeah - but doubt he'd do that much to anyone in real life tbf
