Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

I couldn't agree more with that statement. That said, he simply wasn't good enough to warrant more playing time last season in an Everton shirt. He was an impact sub...that was his best role. Probably the same this season. I don't think he's quite found his level to properly develop.

His injury around Christmas did him no favours. He was just finding some consistency then that happened. When he returned from that, he looked just as he did when he joined in the September. I think he'd have near enough nailed down a place if that injury didn't happen, or at least would have been getting a lot more game time.

Haven't paid close attention to him this season, but it doesn't sound like it's done him any favours. Certainly not his "physical" development anyway....might have helped him with some of the mental side, developed a better attitude, getting used to tough patches, etc.
I'd love him back tbh.

watching the replay now...lets just say it was a shocker by him today...a selfish, shocking display which generated jeers from the home support.
I can't believe for a second Deulofeu would be called selfish *SARCASM ALERT*

Our fans really need to get over him. He wound me up constantly, taking on the world when players were begging for it. He got the same amount of assists as McGeady has this season.

There's talent there but i can't ever see him becoming an incredibly talented consistent player.

*Prepares to get abuse*

Sorry, still has a soft spot for us. I like the lid and think he'd develop well with more time to play here. And while selfish, in some of those slog it around matches where it seems no one steps up in the front third, a dynamic-yet-selfish player might be tonic.

Gerard won't be back, get it over it.

Also, we can do a lot better - we need a player of his calibre. Totally agree, we've been desparate this season with Barkley, Et'oo and even rom going out on the wing looking to create something! until wingers come back to Goodison we will not see Romelu's true ability, he plays brilliantly for Belgium with Hazard and Mertens/ Mirallas on the wings, which is why we saw such a good return from Baines & Coleman last season too.

Read from an almost certainly dreadful source on Facebook that his return is a done deal, the players know it and they are all following him on Twitter as of the last couple of days, also that Lukaku was trying to do his machine gun celebration at the weekend.

Hardly ITK like but an interesting hypothesis.
