Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

If we fail to score because he won't pass I hope every single Blue in the stadium gets on his case

Losing the ball I can handle

Misplacing a pass I can forgive

Misstime a tackle and I'll let you off

But allowing your own selfish greed to cause detriment to your team is something I won't sit on my hands and tolerate

Tbh some of the greediest players have been the best. Maradonna for example , he was probably the greediest ive seen.
Everything was about him hiis glory and the spotlight .
But the moments of genius wouldnt have happened with out his greed perhaps.

But yes , I get what your saying still.

Gerard Deulofeu though... A woody over potential.

I honestly fear for some of you, a genuine fear if we signed a top top player. Its mind boggling this.

Imagine if GOT was around when we signed Kanchelskis. Wept !!!!

Difference being; Kanchelskis would cost £30-40 million in today's market.

Yes and ? They will only move to 'bigger things' if they play well for us . Also if they move , its for big money.

Whats the issue ? We get great talent , they play well for us , worth paying the ticket price to see play , excite us , get us lots of money if they move on , or if they stay continue to give us something enjoyable.
wheres the downside ?
the downside is that im tired of being ' just making up the numbers '. I want success and honours lad. I'm tired of seeing our best players sod off for decent money.... and back to square one we go. Thats the downside.

Yeah but Maradona really should have been more like Naisy. A true team player who would run his socks off for his teammates. I think the Argentines would have appreciated him a lot more then

Maradonna had a lot of assists though

He knew when to be selfish and when to be a team player

Delo doesn't have that balance

This last week in this thread has shed some light onto some of our fans. The same fans who were pissing themselves laughing at our red neighbours over their comments about Markovic last season.

Your point being? We know what where getting with this player. They bought a player who could not cut it in the prem for one reason or the other.

How about looking at it like this ....
we are signing a highly rated product of a well established youth production , from the current best team in the world.

Its not resigning antolin alcaraz

Thats a good thing.

Remember when we got McFadden back on a free? Halcyon days

You don't get it mate.

If Messi passed every single time he'd gone on one of those mazy dribbles it would be weird.

He won't make the right decision every time, but in a way, he doesn't have to.

It's the same for, hmm, who shall I pick, Cleverley will do, every pass he makes won't be right.

But they are all trying to make a goal for the team. It doesn't matter how.

I can see why you think 'selfish' but no matter what, he's trying to score for our team.

it's harder to take someone on, and take it past someone than it is to clear a ball from defence, make a pass etc but strangely we as fans would rather have a go at someone for attacking someone, and not getting it right a few times than have a go at someone hoofing the ball up from defence.
Or moan about sideways , boring football and then have a go at somebody for trying to beat a man and failing. Unbelievable, it really is.

What kind is this LOL

He hasn't done anything. Please don't mention the word potential again mate. Please.
Not talking about potential but from his season with us and what I saw from his time in Sevilla/Spanish u21s

Weaknesses
Sometimes appears to want to star in his own youtube highlights video rather than put in a team performance
Too busy concentrating on doing 5 stepovers to raise his head and make a simple pass, then gets dispossessed
Doesn't realise his fullback has made an overlapping run, loses ball and then shrugs his shoulders as Coleman has to run like a madman back to stop the break
Beats his man but runs too close to the byline before making the pass and strikers have given up on the oass ever coming
Tendency to shoot straight at the keeper
Especially at start of loan couldn't last for more than 60 mins due to the step up in physicality of the league

Strengths
Top speed and acceleration that terrifies defenders
Excellent ball control
When he raises his head has good awareness of other players runs and movement
Very good at free kicks and corners (several of his Sevilla assists come from this)
Has it in his locker to help out defensively - 40 yard dash vs West Ham to make a vital block. Also got a yellow vs Arsenal for a tackle that stopped a breakaway in the dying minutes
Not a wuss, fronted up to a player (Sunderland?) giving him grief and in the Newcastle game risked a kick in the face ti win the ball
Remarkably down to earth and grounded considering he's been touted as the next Barca superstar for years - we aren't going to be seeing dodgy pictures on the front of the tabloids
Big game player, good oerformances (albeit from the subs bench) vs Liverpool and Arsenal.

Some the weakness were probably a part of him being 19, on loan and in a new league.

Tl:dr - He might never iron out the others to reach his full "potential" but honestly I rate him anyway just the way he is and am delighted it looks like he will be signing
