Gerard Deulofeu

If we got Lennon since he is strong defensively then we could play against the weaker teams, Mirallas, Deulofeu and Lennon and Barkley further back and Deulofeu as a No10. I do think that will be his best position. I think maybe doing that would be a season or two too soon but at this stage I think that is our best option and probably better than getting some failed starlet.

Why do our fans love playing players in different positions. I know we've got a small squad like but not everyone needs to be a utility player. Leave the lad out wide to possibly become one of our best ever wingers!

Deulofeu is the exact opposite of a number 10. He flourishes on receiving the ball to feet to run at goal and cut inside or hit the byline.

Moving him in the middle would be absolute madness.
Where do you think the No10 receives the ball? In the hole were he can then turn and run at defenders before playing the through pass or take the player on for the shot. That's the No10's job and I think Deulofeu would be great at it but he wouldn't also have to stay in the centre since he could also float to either wing. I wouldn't want to throw him in and rely on him there but I would like to see him get a bit of experience playing that position.

It was great watching that video. You could see Barkley had one thought on his mind every time he got the ball and that was to give it to Deulofeu. You can tell from that what Barkley thinks of him.

He was a joy to watch the other night . We've had some brilliant wingers over the years but I think this lad has the talent to match any of them.hes looking to score or create a goal every time he gets the ball.hope he never gets coached in to thinking that keeping possession is more important than trying to be creative

I hope he gets coached into getting the balance right.

The difference this Lad makes in games is unreal,we all know he can annoy the hell out of you making the wrong choice, but the way he can change a game for us, is brilliant

He won't always get it right mate but when I see winger in a 1 on 1 situation it infuriates me if they take a safe option of passing inside.I love the lads approach of giving his marker a torrid time

100% agree. He seems like the kind of player that needs the space to excel (similar to Barkley actually).

We need someone David Silva-esque for the middle.

I've convinced myself that he's going to be Kanchelskis 2.0.

I hope he makes himself a regular starter sooner rather than later. Any sort of consistency and this lad will be devastating.

If he gets the ball out wide and starts walking with it you are on toast, his tricks and acceleration from a standing start are unreal, Hazard is good at this, but he's not as quick footed and fast generally as Delboy.

His talent and how he could develop is frightening.

Sort of missing the point of the role mate. Deulofeu is a winger because when he gets to feet, people close him down but won't commit in case he jinks past, and he's always facing goal in that role.

If he was played as a number 10, he'd be crunched as soon as he got the ball. We need someone who can take the ball in tight and then have the awareness to spin away from players quickly, shield the ball and, crucially, distribute well.

Deulofeu there has none of those assets, whereas on the wing he can cut inside, go out wide, beat people for pace, cross the ball etc. - all strengths of his.

His 'bossness' is such - in the light of all else that has been going on lately - that he has brought out the lyricist in me so all together now (to the tune of Y viva Espana - because he's Spanish, dontcha know!):

He's our wizard on the wing
Gerard Del-a-fayo
He's got a name that's hard to sing
Gerard Del-a-fayo
He likes to run and cross the ball
Gerard Del-a-fayo
Our little Spaniard's got it all
Gerard Dellll-aaa-faaay-o

Come on, admit it, it's got legs!!

I'll get me coat
