There's a reason he never got a look in at Sevilla and there is a reason Bobby keeps taking him out the team. Has all the raw ability in the world, exciting to watch, but he's either fantastic, or crap. Top teams don't bother with that risk, they go for consistency.

Will be a top player when/if he finds a consistent level.

Rarely fantastic unfortunately.

Still, a bargain at £3m especially when compared against Naisse

Unfortunately, he's playing in a team which is at the moment the epitome of inconsistency so that can't be helping the situation.

That's not taking the spotlight (or blame) from his own feet, however in a squad that was regularly playing well I think he'd find his feet more.

*bites tongue* ;)

Any position Cleverly plays he is shoe-horned into it. This is because he has no position, because he is not a footballer.
Tbf, he actually had a decent game yesterday, one of his best for the club at 6/10.
Tom Cleverly on Football Manager, in reality, would have no attribute over 8/20, he does nothing to a high-level. Bog standard or poor in every attribute. Need to get rid. £50k a week! Stealing a living because he was a MUFC graduate.

Hmmm, could argue very much that a young Ronaldo wa sexactly that, either very very good or crap at United those first seasons mate, United when they won the title had Ashley young playing - the very definition of crap most weeks sometimes very good, Nasri, Navas, Arshavin, Nani - all played a lot of games for top sides and all had major consistency problems

Problem with him is we do not cater for him at all in our setup, for some players you have to adjust the way the shape or the side plays etc, we just don't do that for anyone no matter what, we stoick religiously to our bosses template of two def mids, one winger and one wide player who basically plays centrally instead

....his assists record per game time must be comparable with the very best. Wide players by their nature are mercurial but this fella would be one of the first names on the team sheet each week for me because he consistently gives us something other players don't - directness and creativity. Perspiration is fine but we also need innovation.

Hmmm, could argue very much that a young Ronaldo was exactly that,

He was, and that is why Alex Ferguson would often bring him on off the bench.

I remember he come on after 80 minutes in this game and destroyed us;

Agree. We also become very one dimensional/predictable in that everything goes down the right.

Didn't know that. Thought we'd bought him for that with a £6m buy back clause to Barca.
What is the final fee assuming that we keep him?

What I mean by it being in effect, a loan fee.

Small change to Barca to fund his development if he becomes anywhere near the player they hoped he would be.

and we set out inviting teams to go at us down our left, which they duly do more often than not, baffles me how we set up that way and yet when teams take the invite we areclueless at stopping them.

My own take is we have this idea of how the game will go and regardless of what transpires we stick to the plan...

First time i saw it was when after Arsenal got destroyed by playing Rom wide we tried it again the next time and it completely failed - yet we stuck to that strategy for the entire game - was a wtf moment watching that.
