Playing crosses into Lukaku is a good way to win games

Who'd've thunk it?

Why have we not been unleashing Del more prior to this?

His injury?
His fitness?
Maybe he's not been great in training?
Maybe his year at Sevilla has affected his confidence?
Maybe Martinez wanted him to re-learn our way of playing/re-integrate with team-mates.

Lots of potential reasons

He took a while to adapt to the physicality of the league on the loan and he hardly got any game time for Sevilla from February onwards, add in his preseason hamstring injury and can understand why he has been eased in slowly.

Even as recently as the last international break for the Spanish U21s he was dead on his feet at 70 mins and that was against a very defensive Estonia.

i don't understand how many more times people have to say this before people stop asking why he hasn't played more.

By god that ball at 0:18 was ridiculous.
Thought Everton Musings described it well

Deulofeu, matching bags of ability with excellent vision, playing a ball between three West Brom defenders perfectly into Barkley’s run. The ex-Barcelona man could peel an orange with his right foot.

He doesn’t really have any right to envision playing this ball along the deck, let alone have the confidence to try it, but to execute it? Star quality from the exciting youngster. Barkley just didn’t get his feet right and skewed the ball wide, having probably had time for a touch. Half an hour in, and it’s no coincidence that the best moments of the game so far involve Barkley and Deulofeu, with Everton having countered with speed and purpose.

I'm not convinced he wasn't aiming for a ball into McCarthys path but overhit it and luckily it ran through into Barkleys path.

assume they are playing 3 at the back, so will sakho be their left sided centre back? could be interesting..

He doesn't need to get in their side.... All he has to do is be worth 20m+ then they will excersise it , pay 7-8m and sell him to someone else for 20m+

If it ever came to that, Changy's effectively covered that scenario

I can see this ending with us paying them a few extra million to sod of and not exercise their buy back in two years time

Basically if we buy out their buyout clause for the difference, then all three parties would be happy.

Perhaps although McCarthy is coming in at quite an oblique angle and it would have been a difficult ball to control with his preferred right foot, especially as there was a defender running on to him. Barkley is not only in a superior shooting position but is generally the better controller/finisher of the two players and far more comfortable using his left foot.

Deulofeu had quite a bit of time to consider his options, he seems to look at Rom and rule him out, so think the weight of the pass and its target was deliberate - am certain that is what he'd claim anyway ;)
