Getting beaten by lesser teams at home - the wake up call

Let’s get this straight. Our home form vs these lesser teams has been terrible this season. Our away form is fantastic though and we always show up against the big boys which is great. However, if we are getting Euro we simply must do better at home against these lot.

1.There is no consistency on the selection of the backline. We should stick with the same defensive backline which keep us clean sheets and winning games. Hope we don’t make any changes unless there are injuries.
2. We have been terrible in the first half of these matches but we have been waiting far too long for the players to react. If the tactics isn’t right perhaps we must act quick and amend at half time with subs coming on or else it is far too late to rectify when going behind.
3. These lesser teams come to Goodison, press high with energy and work-rate. The right attitude.
4. Even 2000 fans coming back in the ground will help. Will the team performs like these if Evertonians are at Goodison?
5. There is a lack of fighting spirit in the team during these matches.
6. There is a lack of cutting edge to break through these teams. Everything seems too slow?
7. Too much rotation.

Fixtures remaining against lesser teams at home.
Week 26 Southampton
Week 28 Burnley
Week 30 Crystal Palace
Week 34 Aston Villa
Week 36 Sheff Utd
Week 37 Wolves

We must leave from our mistakes, something must be done to rectify we must win these teams at home no doubt about it. These are the teams we should be beating conformably at home, if we are to get Euro for next season. What’s your call?
Then I would imagine that it is common sense to always play your strongest team against the weaker, on paper and league position, and get the points in the bag, on Wednesday City will run the legs off Everton players and win, no matter who we put out, so I don’t care who Carlo picks for that match, it’s the game on Saturday that counts, really counts, so Ancelotti should have his strongest team out for that game, God help us if he picks a team that resembles anything like the pathetic team that turned out yesterday, turned out but never performed, one player couldn’t wait to be subbed off, disgraceful.

Some say the league table doesn’t lie but for me, I’m not so sure because we are a distinctly average team. The away games in which we have somehow managed to win have shown us in a misleading position in the table. We play at such a pace that I can hardly get excited when watching and the passive defensive nature of our play is frankly, boring as feck..

These players are simply not good enough.

We don’t have any decent keeper...Pickford thinks he is which is a laugh. Our midfield are all slow plodders on the ball with no pace or urgency to go forward or see a pass. James is the only one who can do it sometimes....Richarlison has to be the most overrated player at the club. Rarely can he go past a player and loses the ball more often that not...I wasn’t a big DCL fan but at least he has turned up this season and seems to be making a bit of progress...would like to see King playing just off him..

Defence isn’t much better and you always think Mina has a mistake in him...Keane is slower than a week in the jail...I do like Godfrey though...

Would keep Godfrey & DCL and at a push...holgate, Allan, Doucoure and James. Also look to see if King can make an impression.

Literally couldn’t give a sh!te about the rest...

I blame this on some players. No fight no urgency no desire to beat these lesser teams. We need to buy a couple of starting players plus the players we bought in last summer. Things will change at home next season in particular the fans will be back.

As people have said before, these teams do to us what we've done to teams like Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea at different times of the season.

We're good enough to compete with anyone in the league but we also aren't good enough to control these games against the lesser sides. I think we need more quality in the centre of the park to really suffocate the likes of Burnley. Yesterday they found it too easy to play through us and break up any pressure we tried to build.

carlo summed it up we cant dominate games, the wins we get are sit back dedend and snatch a goal
If we're going to get beat trying to play in a manner we can't...for various reasons...really do properly...In the short term...not even fans in the ground to annoy - whats wrong with doing just that and taking 1pt...with an option on 3 if we can.
Rather than going all out...or is it all in...and failing to get any points and losing confidence.

*puts on tin hat.

Players are not good enough. That simple. We have bought some absolute tosh and it shows. We’ve not played well, for months now. I am struggling to remember, when we last dominated a game?
I can see Everton taking a battering soon, which might be the wake up call, we need.

Lack of effort and desire from the team. We dont win second balls or our individual battles.

Throw in a bit of complacency too and a lack of quality. But its mostly in the mindset. Half hearted stuff all over the pitch and they should be embarrassed
