The Manics and Pretenders...Did I watch whom?
I stated: "I see septuagenarians who should never headline Glastonbury." ...and you interpreted that to mean ALL septegenarians. How is that not a contradiction?! You said no one 70-79 should ever headline.
Honestly you need studying for science when you snuff it.
To be fair, that'd be a boss headliner. Off yer tits on ket and then 3 hours of gost town.So The Pretenders come on stage, they're headlining Glastonbury, they sing Brass in pocket, crowd goes wild.
Then what? There's like 2.5 hours to fill, the brass in.pocket remix?
It'd be like the disco on Father Ted where the only record they have is Ghost Town.
Baking hot day on the 'Other Stage' was a massive waste of them.I will agree with that - their placing on the bill was really weird to me
That's my point. I have no wish to deny people Elton John, but there are multiple stages and different time slots.Yeah GNR have been a mess for years.
I dont understand your mindset (or people with similar ones).
Its an event with multiple stages and multiple acts. If the Elton John part is exhausting for you then you could watch QOTSA or something instead with an equally massive crowd. Thats the whole point of it. It doesnt matter if you liked it or not, loads did and they had other things on for people who it didnt cater to (like myself).
It's changed from what it was in the past (for the worst in my opinion, but again that doesn't matter) and it aint going back to what it was. The vintage acts are the big TV finale.
The Spice Girls or Steps or someone equally tragic will headline one day, but it will be OK because there will be someone boss on the other stages at the same time who we can watch instead.
It's entertainment. People wanted to see Elton because they enjoy his music. Putting the biggest draw of the weekend (if not the last decade) on one of the other stages makes absolutely no sense.Because they all will it to be a communion. The will is there to reach out and embrace these old headline acts. That's a whole different matter to the quality of what they knock out now though.
Personally...and I've never been an uber fan of theirs...I thought the best 'old time' act on Glastonbury this year were the Manic Street Preachers. 'kin ell, there's some bangers in that set of theirs that would be electric on the Pyramid Stage 9-11 Saturday or Sunday night.
He's a massive draw. No question. But there has to be quality control too. It's entertainment. People wanted to see Elton because they enjoy his music. Putting the biggest draw of the weekend (if not the last decade) on one of the other stages makes absolutely no sense.
The quality of the music was still there too for me. It's music and we all have different tastes and that's fine. Personally I plan on watching it back on the iplayer again during the week because I enjoyed it so much.
But what difference does it make? That's my point. I have no wish to deny people Elton John, but there are multiple stages and different time slots.
TBH I'd rather see tax dodging U2 headline than another arthritic warbling and underperforming legend play the headline slot on the Pyrmaid Stage.
Don't Get Me Wrong and I'll Stand By You.So The Pretenders come on stage, they're headlining Glastonbury, they sing Brass in pocket, crowd goes wild.
Then what? There's like 2.5 hours to fill, the brass in.pocket remix?

Well how else was he supposed to interpret it Dave? haha lolI stated: "I see septuagenarians who should never headline Glastonbury." ...and you interpreted that to mean ALL septegenarians.
Honestly, and I think I've said this to you before, you might benefit from a course in English.
It's a matter of quality control. But what difference does it make?
His whole set was immaculate last night. He's a massive draw. No question. But there has to be quality control too.
Not many of those to be fair. Certainly not for a 2-3 hourheadline slot. It's a matter of quality control.
I cant believe people want to see a big act in the twilight of their career and showing their limitations over a still at the top of their game big act.
