Having previously said he was “fully committed to the PGA Tour” Dustin Johnson has obviously had a bit of a change of mind ?! Looks like lots of $$$$$$$$$ for DJ!

I can understand the motivation for the majority of the field who are on the fringes, but I still can’t wrap my head around the likes of DJ, Garcia, Oosthuizen leaving.
Seems like they have a lot to lose with their reputations, future prospects and not much to gain.

Except a lot of dollars.

Can’t blame him to be fair. The money is brilliant and you can count on one hand the number of countries in the world who are in a position to criticize the Saudi’s without exposing their own skeletons in their wardrobes. Makes me laugh when British journalists Mount their high horses and say the likes of Joshua shouldn’t fight over there.

Kevin Na actually resigning from the PGA tour to avoid the threat of legal action, so he can sign up with the LIV Saudi backed events!

I suspect the majority of players are looking at the repercussions Johnson will face for jumping ship. Johnson is a top player to lose from the PGA tour. If one or two others also join (say a Thomas or Mcilroy) then I think a compromise will be reached and the PGA as a ‘punishment’ will have to play in lesser ranked pga tour events to enhance their fields. They won’t want all the top players leaving the tour or their ability to attract sponsorship and viewers will be affected.

It would have to be a much larger exodus than this for it to become a problem for the Tour.

Notice that the players switching to LIV are much closer to the end of their careers than the beginning. More or less guaranteed cashflow (due to weak fields) looks pretty good when you know the dropoff is coming, but not when, and the downside risk of the tour collapsing isn't that much of a risk for these players.

I think that they will struggle to attract viewers unless they can turn this into more than a Senior Tour for players nearing/over the age of 40.

What I was meaning mate, if the likes of Rory and Thomas joined the tour’s other leading players would soon follow. I agree currently it’s like a tour for the over 40s. Can’t say I’ll be watching it.

A 16 year old girl from my club, Chiara Noja, has just won her first event on the ladies 'challenge' Euro tour. (I guess that's not what it's called, but it's the championship level as opposed to the Premier league.)

She's been walloping mens senior members here for about 4 years so most are relieved she's actually really good lol

One to watch.

I'll keep an eye out for her results mate. Have you seen a kid called Frankie Kennedy who is 16 as well. Won in Portugal at the start of the year.

Always good to follow the juniors when they start on a serious tour as opposed to regional. A whole new level. Chiara won by 9 strokes, some going!

I didn't see Frankie but I'll keep my eyes open for the name.

Standard is still great on the EuroPro tour, I always try to catch the highlights when they're on the TV
