Golf 2022....

I think cricket is the wrong example myself mate.
A county cricketer a few years back wasn’t making much money at all, and I’ve played with test players who had to go and be paid to play league cricket to make a living 12 months of the year.
A good few in the Liverpool Comp going back a while now like.
Now it’s full on cricket ( 20/20 especially) all over the world all year round. Too much now i feel, but I won’t knock them for making their money whilst they can.
Nah i don't begrudge people making money in the main. But i aint gonna bother watching it though.

I bet Royal Birkdale is unbelievable to play. I’ve played Bowring when I was a kid a few times, 20 years later I’ve decided to take it up as my mates did after lockdown last year. I’ve only played Shirdley 3 times since I started got a 106 on my first round, a 99 2nd then. 114 yesterday haha. I was happy enough with even the 114 after not hitting a ball in 20 years and only really playing maybe 10 games at most before that.

Funnily enough I’ve taken it up because of my knee, I need something to replace the football
Royal Birkdale is fantastic, but in fairness it’s at the end of a run of amazing golf courses that starts with West Lancs, then Formby, Formby Hall, Hillside, Southport and Ainsdale then Royal Birkdale! Must be the best run of courses in the UK within such a short distance of each other!
Haven’t looked recently but they were all getting ridiculously expensive to pay a Green Fee to play ?, unless you know a member ?!
Enjoy your golf ?!

I played West Lancs a few weeks ago, was brilliant. Managed to shoot 90 (I’m 18 handicap), so I was buzzing with that.

Good score mate, course is amazing. Beautiful at its calmest and the next day is a completely different beast with 35mph winds feeling like your on a washing machine lol

Yeah the wind was ridiculous, hitting a 7 iron 200+ yards on one hole, then hitting a driver <150 a few later. It was a great experience, the greens are ridiculous as well.

I played the Carya in Belek Turkey the week after, we went on a golf holiday for a week, them 2 weeks I played the best courses I’ve ever played, it was great. Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to get out for a game since haha.

Just saw a Mickelson interview there. Very hard to watch, like when a hapless politician falls apart in an election debate.

Proper rubbish field for this new tournament as well. One top player and a lot of has beens who already cashed their final pay cheque
Fixed that for you. The prize money pales next to the immense signing bonuses.

The position of the USGA is interesting. I figured that a secondary tour would have difficulty getting off the ground when the PGA had functional control of the majors, and then the USGA shot that down. I am interested to see the position the R&A stakes out. I have a hard time seeing the Masters hanging the PGA out to dry, not for love of the Tour but for love of their brand.

Rory coming out and saying he has recieved more money for turning up at a tournament than the winner got Is ridiculous.
Going on to say he wasn’t arsed about winning as he’d already been paid just dosent sit well with me.
Certainly explains some of his performances like.

I used to be a member at West Lancs when I was younger and had time to play golf. It's a great course, better than Birkdale in my opinion. However, the best course in the area is definitely Hillside. Great layout, and a real challenge. The big name courses, Birkdale and Royal Liverpool, are by no means the best, they just have the land to be able to stage major tournaments.

Everything that is wrong with elite sportsmen these days, contract signed not arsed just go through the motions.

The back 9 at Hillside is stunning, an amazing 9 holes of golf! I think it was Greg Norman who said it was the back 9 there was in the UK!

I used to like Rory and Lee Westwood for that matter. They seemed down to earth guys. Now I smell rodents in the kitchen.
