Calling Gary Stanley, Gary Megson, Geoff Nulty, Eamonn O Keefe, etc dross shows a very strange frame of mind.

Some very odd posters on here. Wouldn't like to meet them for a pint.
Well Gordon Lee bought them, and we managed to finish 15th with them, so what other word would you prefer to use to describe them

RIP Gordon. Was the manager in my early years although before I was really in to footy I thought his
time was not always put in a positive light yet I think far more successful and far better football
than the last few years we've had. Bring back Gordon Lee!

I’m sorry to see anyone die, but I’ll be honest I never liked him as a manager. He had some great players but how we went into winter expecting to win the league and ending up 4th did my head in…

Pete, HK lost a double in 86 to that shower. Still a legend despite the dark years before January 84. Gordon suffered some really bad luck with us.

I liked the man.

Sorry to buck the trend, but he was never my cup of tea.
Dont know where the story comes from he nearly won the league, we were streets behind Forest and the other lot, and highest we finished was 4th.
Signed the best number 6 in the country in Colin Todd, then played him at right back, preferring to play Billy Wright next to Lyons.
His persistent obsession with a bang average Geoff Nulty drove me mad, all because he "worked hard"
If ever there was a manager who didnt get the school of science motto, it was Gordon.
He thought because he upset Newcastle fans by selling their star player, McDonald, he could do it with Everton fans and McKenzie.
Then replaced McKenzie with a second division yard dog ( Mick Walsh ) the brother of the other Everton Walsh who stole a living from our club.
Walsh scored two goals in total and was sold to QPR by February.
Claimed in an interview to have given Megson and Borrows their debuts, but he didnt.
Megson was bought from Plymouth and Howard Kendall gave Borrows his debut.
Sorry, but he was never my cup of tea
Seeing that this is a thread in respect to a recently deceased former manager of this club, if you had nothing nice to say, then perhaps you should have just said nothing.

The Everton team of that era despite sadly winning nothing, seems to be very fondly remembered by the vast majority of fans who saw them. As i said earlier he was unfortunate to be our manager, when that other shower were winning everything.

I'll never forget the joy of the Andy King Derby, not just for the joy of beating the other lot for the first time in beards, but also Gordon Lee proudly accepting his manager of the month award before the game and walking towards the kopites in the park end waving his bottle of bells above his head. It set the scene for a great day. RIP Gordon.
That's a lovely story, and that's a great photo as well.:)
