The weather was grand at the weekend, but sadly the roads weren't. Went out for a quick 100km on Sunday and ended up covered in all sorts. There had been a lot of wash from the fields so the lanes were pretty grotty.

Nice and sunny though and pretty mild for January. If you're staying in the parks (or at least somewhere urban) you should be fine.

Yes, trouble with skating is that its much more weather dependent than cycling, as the urethane wheels lose traction with any hint of moisture. Even if its not raining but the roads are damp then it becomes unskateable, which is a big problem at this time of year as any rain dumped during the day basically means the roads stay slick all evening. Still, good time to do gym, running, cycling.. anything, really for cross-training.

Weighed in at 73.6Kg this morning, down from 80Kg since November, and the lightest I've been for several years and BMI 25.4. Target is <70Kg.

No idea what I weight at the moment actually. Just after Christmas I was 12 stone, which is the lightest I've been since my teens! Just from healthy eating and cutting out all snacks.

Christ. How tall are you?

Edit: Actually, it's probably not as shocking as I imagined.

I'm 5'9 and about a stone too much at the moment, just about 81.5KG. Ideally would be about 75KG, although I have relatively muscley legs so it's going to make me overall a bit heavier.

Its great to see so many lads hitting the gym and trying to eat healthy. Its hard in this day and age with all the convient fast foods about.

I'd say its 85% eating right and the combo of doing this and going the gym or exercising at home can have amazing results for your fitness over time.

On july 15th 2013 I weighed in at an astonishing 23 stone 5 and I've never felt so down. This was 2 weeks after my divorce and I pretty much dedicated my life to just going to work and then coming home and hitting the gym. July 16th I set out on my life changing quest and battled my way through. After a daily routine of sweat and in some cases, tears......... I'm down to 16 stone 8 today.

My whole life has changed and Im now on of those lads that drink protein shakes and peanut butter before hitting the weights monday through friday. Weekends I rise at 6 am and hit the roads in my town going for 5 mile jogs...... its astonishing when I look back to what I was. I'm back into a 36 jeans. Still got at least another 12 months before I get to my target but I wouldn't change this for anything.

Keep to it lads. :D

Fair play mate. Any new women on the horizon as a result?

My meals are basically either fish or chicken with lots of veggies and fruit.

Breakfast is either scrambled eggs or porridge mixed with a scoop of protein powder. I honestly haven't felt this good for about 15 years and painfully regret not keeping in shape through my 20's. Taking vitamin tablets is also part of my day.

I'm actually proud to say I've now eliminated booze from my life. Not because I was drinking excessively but because its just almost impossible to lose the weight I was faced with whilst on my quest. So I stopped and at the start it was hard but once I broke the mental game, it was clear sailing.

Like you wouldn't believe. The confidence its gave me is ridiculous. Hahaha I think I deserve to be able to admit that I look good now and without sounding a **** ......... I catch woman looking. Great feeling and is a form of motivation to keep it going.

Good stuff mate. Sounds like a real turn around in fortunes. I like that you call it a quest, makes it sound poetic.

Awesome Sauce!
Nice diet, too - it's impossible to eat too much protein and veggies. Anything green is great.

Diet & exercise are two sides of the same coin. You can't seriously tackle one in isolation without looking at the other, moreso the older you get.

Still a big fan of the booze, though, me. (although wine, not beer).
