Pretty much that's it in a nutshell. You can ingest carbs post workout to help refill your glycogen stores too, but that doesn't actually help/ aid growth, it's the protein that speeds things up. If you use a whey isolate that you mix your self, as opposed to the ready mixed varieties, you're also getting the added boost of it being an anti oxidant


All the stuff (admittedly limited) stuff I've read on carb backloading seems specifically geared to how to get the most from your weights programme and how to get bigger... fine if that's your goal, but I'm personally going to stick with a more traditional keto programme as my goal is to get lean, slim down, and build endurance and stamina.

Different strokes for different folks!


Had a 2-hr endurance session last night, 21 miles over 2 hours at a steady 140bpm. Felt great! Weather looks horrendous for the rest of the week though, so not sure when I'll be able to next get out.

Cannot stand the bulbs who massively load a bar for a deadlift but then pick it up the easiest way with the worst form known to man. Then go off giving it the big I am.

Haha. I hate the roar some people do when dropping the weights down, then their head spins around the gym frantically looking to see how many people witnessed the greatness.

Haha theres a dude in the gym i go to who clearly loves heavy metal way too much. Big lad but when he squats everyone in the gym knows about it, guy is so load.

And he also brings a little camera and tri-pod to film his squat technique.

Hahaha, genuinely just lol'd at that.

My gym is full of students who just do arms every session so you don't see any of that. You do get a few people that think that lying on one of the powerplate machines for half a hour constitutes as a gym session, though.

I was deffo one of those students who just did arms all the time.

Recently switched gyms to a move functional place. Had space to actually do some sled pushes/pulls this morning!

It doesn't bother me until you get someone hogging one of the benches for concentrated curls. Such a waste of a bench.

That guy on the right looks worryingly like me.
