I think with the £30 a month I've saved on my car insurance I might upgrade my gym to Total Fitness. The nearest gyms to me are £25 a month and if I can still get a student membership at TF it's only an extra £5. Anyone ever been a member and tried to cancel their membership? If so is it straightforward or do you just have to stick out the 12 months?
 
few things on this. speed is different to quickness. Which are you getting caught on - being out accelerated or in straight line speed?
turning speed is different to sprinting speed - look up drills for improving turning and also SAQ (speed and quickness) drills.

second - speed is a skill and is coachable. As in, you can teach your body to be faster.


things like box jumps for explosive power.


sled pulls are great.


prowler pushes


You need to be careful not to take DeFranco's work out of context with regards to the prowler and leg sled

If the sprinting relates to people who are playing sports such as rugby, football, American football, basketball etc etc, then the prowler will help because it helps the body deal with lactic better. If the sprinting doesn't involve an element of recovery/ endurance, then it's not going to be beneficial past the point of the sprinter being fairly weak. It's a very low level strength builder, and is more of a general conditioning tool

To be honest, I would spend £50 and go see a decent Strength and Conditioning coach and get assessed and get a personal program done out. best money you'll ever spend.
most staff in gyms haven't a clue what they are doing and just stick you onto machines and free weights cause its all they know.

If you're after a coach, go find an Oly lifting gym. Just make sure they're not turning a blind eye to but winking, sure sign the person coaching doesn't have the foggiest what he/ she is doing
 

Cheers lid. I've dropped weights and am bulking down/toning. Just want someone to take it next level for the the immediate future. I go to a gym with limited equipment like.

Diet Chico, and erm you could just stop lifting. Give your body a break and just use some diet to lose any excess bf
 
I have an ace diet lid. Its mostly just about toning and variable work outs.

Toning is a word that makes no sense. Your muscles are already 'toned', they'll just be hidden under some bf. If you're talking about working a bodypart/ muscle to bring it into better synergy with the rest of your physique then that would make more sense.
