So you'll take more protein than the RDA to put on muscle mass but you won't take creatine. Genius.

Armstrong for example took sarms, which by the same rational as you're using for tear would mean an androgen receptor stimulator would seem a nescient choice for an endurance athlete.

While test is used for strength and size increases, it is a major recovery aid. It's the recovery element that some argue is the primary benefit for strength athletes.

Test derivatives have three benefits: androgenic (strength), anabolic (size), recovery. None of these are mutually exclusive, and the type of training stimuli will ultimately determine the type used, and primary function, of the steroid. For the endurance athlete the testosterone derivatives are simply part of a cocktail of performance enhances that would be taken.

Finally don't underestimate the power output difference between elite cyclists and amateurs.

Become a vegetarian, you're already intestine creatine. The downside is it will lower your IQ ......

I'm sure you take whey protein to up your protein intake, just think of creatine in the same fashion. You're eating far more harmful chemicals in your every day diet.
 

Generally creatine is found to pose little benefit for endurance exercise, something like road cycling is an exception because you may use a burst of power at the end of the race, which is why i said 'not really'. The research backs that up.

To be honest, I'd have taken anything to give me a hand today. Went over the Stelvio alright, taking around 8 minutes off my previous best, but the Ofenpass was a real grind. Didn't feel good at all. Managed to crawl home in around 6h45m in the end, so not too bad, but it sure was hard work.

I did try creatine a while back after some probably dodgy advice from a bloke down the gym. Not sure it does much for endurance athletes?

Double-blinded studies have been done that have shown creatine can help endurance runners (see http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/cre...-training-without-encouraging-weight-gain-143)

The well-defined problem is that gains they make in strength/power (which even endurance athletes need) are offset by the water weight gain. So the trick is to somehow leverage the power gain without adding the weight. Modifying the loading-phase protocol may be key to this; I've also heard of a type of creatine called Cre-O2 that is supposed to greatly reduce the water retention, although I haven't tested it out myself. I've stuck with 5g of creatine monohydrate a day and haven't noticed any weight gain, whilst managing to lift moderately more in the gym.

Synthetic creatine is usually made from sarcosine (or its salts) and cyanamide which are combined in a reactor with catalyst compounds. The reactor is heated and pressurized, causing creatine crystals to form. The crystalline creatine is then purified by centrifuge and vacuum dried. The dried creatine compound is milled into a fine powder for improved bioavailability. Milling techniques differ, resulting in final products of varying solubility and bioavailability. For instance, creatine compounds milled to 200 mesh are referred to as micronised.

So creatine yes or no?

I presume creatine is best taken after a workout correct?

What are peoples opinions on how long to take this before having a break? 4 weeks..... 6 weeks, then off for a week?

Can you combine creatine with whey protein. I don't mean together. I mean in addition daily.
