Really struggling with my running at the moment after I had been making great progress.

Attempted 2 5ks this week but found myself really breathless after around a mile and a half and struggling to finish.

I have suffered with asthma when I was young but not recently, but it feels a lot like that used to feel. Been struggling with a cold a bit that won't budge too.

Any tips welcomed.

Dignitas is probably your best option here

As if i'm going to Switzerland for anything.

If you've carried on running through the cold and you can't shift it would it be worth having a bit of a rest and laying off the running for a few days to see if that helps?

I haven't run further than about a metre for about 15 years so it could be worth ignoring my advice.

It's not the worst advice to be honest. I just always feel crap if I don't do any exercise these days which makes it harder to shift colds.

Have a break for a few days but keep eating the right things (90% doner meat diet obviously) and see how it goes, that's what I'd do.

Slow your initial bit down, you're starting off too fast.

Keep it slow until your breathing is comfortable, however long it may take.

It's a really common mistake that a lot of people make and also why loads pack in too.

I didn't run for over four years due to the kids, whenI started again, I did very small slow runs for months at first and then built up the mileage and speed as my fitness returned.
