How many events are you doing ?

If you’re doing any abroad, you may need one of @Joey66 magic EU special dispensation tickets to travel !

The Maratona is the main one, which is in July.

We usually drive there so not quite sure what changes might happen driving permits etc.

I run in Adrenaline 18gts at 1/2 m and above, gone through a number of variations over the years , often buying last years model in the sale .
One thing mate, you mentioned you’ve taken another runners place. I’m not sure of the details but this is something to be cautious about , and may be something frowned upon by the organisers , there have been instances of people becoming ill in races and organisers not having correct details for them available . It’s currently quite a controversial topic in running circles, swapping numbers that is.

The Organisers know I am running but they cannot change the name of the original runner so I'll just be going by the time on the chip and the number. Te name printed in the results doesn't matter for any long term league.

The Ultimas aren`t trail shoes are they ?

The Hoka One Speed Goat 2 are very similar if you like cushioning for the trail , plus they have quite a rugged sole too. ( expensive though )

I prefer much more minimalist shoes, but it really is down to the individual.

You are right, they are not specifically for trail but can cope. Its more the custioning helps for the sections with lose stones.

Completed the Larne Half Marathon in 2:04:55. Well pleased with that time. The last km was a huge struggle though I could see the finish line so just kept going. Hips were tight yesterday but my biggest issue was chapped lips. Never thought about having to put vasaline on them HA.

Well in mate, that’s a cracking time considering you’ve never ran that far before

Here's my log for the last 2 weeks:

23/3 Larne Half Marathon - 2:04:55 PB
1/4 Belfast Titanic Quarter 10k - 53:10 PB
3/4 Belfast Queens 5k - 23:25 PB

So I think its safe to say I have finished on the road to regain my fitness. Odly the only bit of discomfort is my shoulder which must have been caused by hunching when I was getting tired. Onwards and Upwards.

Maybe time for a new pair of treads ;)

Great stuff, well done ,! Without knowing anything about conditions , courses etc I would say from your 5k time you could get a sub 50 for 10km . ;)

I hope to aim for a sub 50min 10k though the 5 k was very flat. 2 3/4 laps with 4 corners per lap. So ideal conditions for a PB.

This month I am running in the first leg of the Belfast Marathon Relay (6.8miles). The wife is doing the entire distance. Then a 5k on a local Runway next weekend, then a 10k the following weekend. I'm way behind on my quest to run 1000km this year so have to buck up my ideas.

Good luck with that buddy.

Fitness Blog:

I've just left my Gym due to getting a new job, so now - rather than doing one or two classes a day, I'll be forced to push myself in my work gym (as my new work is in the middle of no-where). Quite nervous about it.

I've considered starting jogging - but at the moment I can probably get a mile flat out and thats about it :/

Good luck to you and your wife in the BelfastMarathon and Relay, two of my running friends are flying across today to do it.
