Be disappointed if we genuinely want him and he's going elsewhere...

Only hope is the manager they really want is quality

Always felt it might be a case of his agent pressing hard to get West Ham to improve.

If we're seemingly after a manager in a role (which Bobble thinks - and yes, that pained me to write that), then our first choice wasn't Potter anyway.

I'd have taken Potter, he's very likeable in many ways, but I always felt he'd be crushed by expectation of the fans.

Conceicao would have been a good choice. He'd have been in the Gwladys st pointing fingers and all sorts

Conceicao would have been my choice. That's the type of manager I think we need. Someone who really galvanises the club and wakes it up from it's 30 year coma.

Hmm. Not sure I agree with the he built Brighton part. He was coaching in a very, very good set up. It’s clear from what’s happened since he left that was part of a cog in a machine rather than directing it.
Didn’t do it on his own but when he got there they were in a similar situation to Everton. Barely eking out survival. He got them up the table to 9th and playing nice stuff while they did it. Not saying he’s perfect but there are similarities to what he’s done prior and what we should be aiming to do the next 3 seasons based on our current predicament.

If we think about Potter and the way he plays, his last / best line-ups when he was at Brighton, I don't think our squad or best team looks too bad in comparison really but there are obvious glaring issues that would be the case under any manager - wing/full backs.

Something I liked about Potter is that he doesn't just stick to the same formation each game but would adapt so you'd see him play 3 or 4 at the back depending on the game.

Let's take this for example. We have a better keeper than Sanchez in Pickford. We have a better version of Dunk in Branthwaite - a tall strong, dominant CB who is adept with the ball at their feet. Tarks taking the Webster role and JOB with the Veltman role (Branthwaite and ___ being the Dunk/Webster in a back 4).

Garner to be that Caicedo type player who has both physical and technical attributes (worry is fitness) - Gana back up to that position.

MacAllister - we don't realy have a player capable of this.

Trossard and Groß - Ndiaye and Lindstrom for now. Ndiaye covers that Trossard role well I think. Lindstrom is a doubt but i do think a Potter style in that formation is his best position. Based on his performance so far though and our issues we obviously need a new RW/RF.

Welbeck - Broja. A technical forward who is capable of doing things with the ball at their feet and involving the players around him.

Estupiñán + March - These are unfortunately the positions which, along with that MacAllister position is a glaring one, especially in a Potter system as they are quite vital. Perhaps you could get away with using McNeil and Patterson initially in those positions but they'd also need upgrading.

It's not....great...but I don't think we are SO far away from having a squad that Potter could work with.

(This is not meant to be taken as a these players are an exact like for like or of the same quality - there are obviously players like Caicedo who are far better than any CM we have).
Didn't almost this Everton side batter that Brighton side 5-1? Who's missing? Richarlison and gordon?

We beat them 5-1 when they were managed by De Zerbi and finished 6th in the league with 62 points. They played a 4-2-3-1 that day with Groß at RB. No Trossard, Veltman or March in their side. We had Iwobi, Patterson and Mina in ours.
