I don't think it's about being scared for your safety though, it's about the pressure. I do think the Everton job is almost unique in terms of the disconnect between what is actually possible for a manager to do and what the fanbase expects from them. You have to be a certain type of individual to be able to deal with the pressure that comes with a job like this, I have no idea whether Potter is or isn't, but I do understand what people mean when they ask the question.
I think we overestimate how demanding we are as a fanbase. Half the time that I go to Goodison the place is like a morgue, bar a bit of full time booing. Yes, there's unrealistic fools on the internet but that's true of any club. Have a look at literally any Geordie twitter feed. They're even more delusional than we are. Loads of people made similar comments about whether Howe could deal with the pressure when we were linked with him and he's been just fine with the barcodes. Potter would also be fine with the fan pressure, imo, I just don't think this is a squad that can play his style of football so I wouldn't go for him mid-season. I'd be ok with him in the summer if he was able to bring in five or six players but that's not where we are.

There'll be people here voting for Potter who chased Martinez out of town for passing the ball.

🤷‍♂️

I assume you’ll throw your support behind him if he takes over like you do with all Everton managers D-bot. I’ll be watching with a keen eye.

People aren't going to like it, but TFG should be looking at 22/23 if the situation is as desperate. Dyche took us over in game week 22 on 15 pts and kept us up. We're currently on 17 having played 19 game weeks, but going into game week 21.

So what's the point in getting a new crisis manager on a long contract just because people are bored of the face of the current crisis manager?

And another point, if these lads can play football that yields better results than we're currently getting, then why not just go for a non crisis manager and stay up with better football?
Good post this mate.

Of course. Even Walter Smith got a few years of support despite not being my *ahem* cup of tea; and Fat Head Koeman got 12 months before he crashed us into the relegation zone after spending £250M.

Good stuff. As I said I’ll be watching with a keen eye and have all your quotes loaded up and ready to go.

The Koeman bit is a lie btw. My memory isn’t that short, don’t worry.

So you’re agreeing that a change needs to be made as he has the same record as Lampard winning just 3 games with half a season gone?

Well, we're 16th now, not 19th.

And we haven't lost 11 of our last 14 going into February with Arsenal X2 and Liverpool coming up.

I felt we were down then. I don't now. I think it'll be close and go to the wire, but I shared my view before the season started that it'll be that way.

But ultimately results are all that matters and we can't have a manager with months on his deal who knows he's leaving, manage a squad who knows he's leaving as well as half of them who aren't invested in Everton next season.

The point is not Dyche Vs Lampard though, it's around whether we need to be hiring a crisis manager if this team is already massively underperforming solely because of the manager. If the opinion is a new manager will definitely improve us, then the opinion should also be we don't need a crisis manager, as you say.

Just can't see Myko and Young overlapping as wingbacks at all, they don't have it in them.

We have a midfield who can't pass, crap fullbacks as well. We could recall our mate Maupay back though..

It's not. I stated loads of time son here in his first season and beyond that he gets the chance to prove himself. He just didn't take it.

Find me a post I made that contradicts that...
