Do you know of any podcasts for fartlek training? Ones that could coach you through a session and tell you when to sprint etc.

Cheers

Hmm, well the point of a fartlek, at least as far as I understand it, is simply to make it up as you go along. That's why there's no much to be said in terms of "how to do it" - there's no right or wrong way, and a "coached fartlek session" is something of an oxymoron.

I would say just go outside and run - no GPS, watch, HRM.. no pre-designated route. Go slow on some bits, attack other bits. Do it for as much as you feel you need to get a good workout. There's your fartlek. :)

Armando Ianucci's Charm Offensive is very funny

As is The 99p Challenge/King Stupid

You can download them off itunes. Great stuff

I also enjoy The Ricky Gervais Show that used to be on XFM. You can listen to them on YouTube

As for current Radio Shows, Heresey with Victoria Coren is good. And I do quite like Call Collymore as well, believe it or not

There's a podcast by a US company called Mystery Show. It's up on iphones and though the presenter has a slightly odd voice it is fun and interesting. The host solves mysetries that the internet cannot. Was recommended by Jon Ronson, so worth a listen

Series running over four years on Radio 4 called Voices From The Great War (1.45, this week) It details first hand recorded testimony from people who were there. The second series started this week, and has included the Second Battle of Ypres and the first use of poison gas. The next two segments concern the Gallipoli campaign.

The first series includes the start of the War, and the Christmas 'truce'. Harrowing at times but nevertheless fascinating. Both series are available on the I Player and are highly recommend. Presented by Dan Snow.
