Greatest Gigs

Can we have a worst gigs thread,
I seen Dexies midnight runners at Eric's about 1979 and they were rubbish.
Refused to play any of the hits and Rowland just came across as a pretentious up his own arse gobshite

Easy one that :

Guns and Roses at Maine Road 1992.

Tickets cost a fortune, they come on over an hour and half late, it was roasting and Axel Rose decided to throw insults out, at drunk and angry audience.

Utter rubbish and probably the only time, I actually agreed with people throwing bottles at a front man.

Remembered a couple of other good ones - Beastie Boys at the Barrowlands in 1992, and Suede on the Dog Man Star tour (1994??).

If I ever find my box of old ticket stubs - probably lost through one too many house moves - then I'll really be in business...

I've been to a few gigs and would go to more but it's money situation. Some of the best though were
The Beat - Brum Locarno 1982
Frank Sinatra - Royal Albert Hall 1980, sounded worse than a karaoke singer after 10 pints but atmosphere of a superstar
Simply Red - 1994 Brum NEC, best live singer I've heard
Stereophonic- Wolves Civic Hall, sometime in the last 10 years
Manics - London Dome, sometime in the last 12 years,
No good with dates 😕 lol

I'd love to have seen The Jam back in the day. I know a fella who started telling me he'd see The Jam when I put them on the jukebox in the local. Far from disbelieving him I was genuinely into the conversation asking what they were like, what was the crowd like etc. Then he said it was at Live Aid ....... "But it was The Style Council that played Live Aid mate, and you're only about 10 years older than me so you went to Live Aid when you were what, 12?" Like most shameless pub liars who get tripped up he took a sip of his pint and gave that thousand yard stare into the distance.

I can just picture him now sliding up to some student in town who's just put Us & Them on on the jukey. "I've seen these live" "Oh nice one mate what gig was it?" "The Great Gig in the Sky"

Had tickets for the Nirvana gig in London which I think was on the day he died (I think!)

Being skint students, me and my mate instantly got refunds for £15 or whatever it was. Dread to think what those tickets might be worth now lol

It was the Cardiff gig that was the first after he topped himself. My mate had a ticket.

Absolutely love pub liars. Can genuinely sit and listen to them all night, amazing value

I'd egg him on for hours tbh, my kind of guy

Kind of right and wrong for both, they'd cancelled a lot of the European dates after his first suicide attempt, so was due to play Cardiff in April, but by actual death date he should have been in London and I think he was found on the 8th so it could be Dublin was the first scheduled date after it was announced.
