Barker always remained silent on his inspiration for the Candyman, AFAIK.The Candyman was based on a Clive Barker book, The Forbidden, which was set in his native Liverpool.

Really?
If your mum took Thalidomide you may not have any elbows to lick.Unless your mum took Thalidomide.
Really? was meant to question the sensitivity (or lack) of the comment.Well, it's not cast iron certain. But birth defects as a result of use of the anti morning sickness drug Thalidomide were fairly well documented, leading to it's discontinuation.

We can agree on that.It wasnt a comment it was a joke! (Albeit one in bad taste)
Verified apparently.I always suspect this is a bit like when a kid brags about their goldfish being 12 years old because they're blissfully unaware that their mum has been flushing the dead one down the loo every other week and buying a new one from Pets At Home.
Liverpool city’s famous Liver Birds are named Bertie and Bella ...... a fact I only found out today.
That mushroom grows mainly in south-western Finland. It's true that almost every year some poor b*st*rd does eat those and, well, dies with a liver etc failure. Lately those victims have however been comin' from abroad, Thailand and so on. They're brought here to pick the stuff from the forest, berries and such for 30 Euros/day...Don't know where to start but a mushroom isn't a vegetable and no intention of eating that fish .The "Finnish cuisine" is special in that they include a pasta dish as a Finnish staple -makaroni laatikko-which translates to macaroni stew .There are many that die each year with picking " button mushrooms " but most are people from eastern Europe that think they recognise them but are wrong ,it is a real problem here .

Just finished the biology-course with my 5th graders and hammered in hard the lesson "do not pick/eat the mushrooms you don't recognise".
Makaronilaatikko with ketchup is a real treat...
