I do not know of any of my friends or family, that actively support England, to have voted for Brexit, none of them have ever been racist or pine for the days of the Empire, so there are a few reasons not to hate ALL England fans. I am a nice guy, honest, I just don't want you to hate me :blush:

Southgate is going to be having panic attacks at night now.

This ultra conservative football man will be mulling if he can actually allow his fullbacks to cross the halfway line, not play with 2 DMs making it a back 6, or keep the same tactics and setup and play for penalties or continue nullifying the opposition because his instincts is to make the game as dour as possible and lull the opposition to sleep to get that one solitary goal.

I hope France lose tonight and somehow get 2nd place in their group so it's them who England get next and Mbappe tears that 6 man defence to shreds.

England are so boring to watch, be good for the English game if they get knocked out badly and the waistcoat wearing footballing dinosaur Southgate gets fired.

While I tend to agree that a lot of our players are overhyped, I think some of the reactions on here are also OTT. England may not be as good as some sections of the media make out but they're not as bad as a lot of posters on here make out.

I'm not so sure we're automatically going out in the next round. I'm pretty certain that no one is giving us a hiding.

The reason England have 2 goals in 270 mins and conceded none is the setup, the back four play deep, the fullbacks are not allowed to cross the halfway line and the 2DM's are not allowed to pass the ball forward, only to recycle the ball passing sideways and backwards, a setup like that tends to stop getting hidings, but you won't create or score much.

You can tell Mourinho is Southgate's coaching inspiration, 4231 formation, 2 DMs, Fullbacks that stay in line with the deep lying CB's, and 4 attacking players.

Is it no surprise this England team is as dour as Mourinho football teams the last 10 years.

This type of football would have worked in the 00's, but with 433 the vogue formation, pressing, defensive highlines, attacking fullbacks playing as wingers and a controlling #6 with two 8's and inverted wingers is making Southgate look pretty dated and stupid for the World to see.

You can clearly see why he won't risk and pick the likes of Sancho, Arnold, Chilwell and Grealish (who only played because Mount was out), they are modern day players who he doesn't understand how to use, they are players to complex for his limited footballing IQ to know how to use.

Definitely. They're better teams.

On the flip side, better teams will come at us more and possibly leave more space for our creative players. Look at the way Spain have struggled against the likes of Sweden and Poland yet put 6 past Germany 7 months ago.

Having said that, I'm not so sure France will come at us.

Spain only have struggled in the sense that their strikers don't know how to shoot the ball between those big white things at either end of the ground. I don't really trust Morata to figure that out now but if he gets lucky for two weeks they could win this.

You're right, France v England would be two teams terrified of the other.
