Christ, sone of you going on like Lukaku is the size of Rooney, ffs.

Was laughing at him in the studio alongside Shearer and Fabergas. You could both of them in a Rooney.
He's definitely lost a spring in his step when it comes to getting onto balls in the 18 yard box, but he's still destructive running with the ball and really holds it up well.

It's always a great moment at a major tournament when a great player steps up, digs deep, and leads his team out of a predicament. In a world of overrated, overpaid "stars", these moments prove who the truly great are. Last night, that was Kevin De Bruyne. I thought he was trying too hard for a while in the first game and start of yesterday's, but he really came to the fore when the need was greatest.

Any player at this level can look good when surrounded by superstars at club level. But international football provides a different challenge, emotionally and resource-wise, to the star player. It's also a great differentiator. It separates the men from the boys.

Let's see if Belgium can drive on from here. Ukraine in the last game will be a challenge - but they should be too good for the Ukrainians.

If Rom remembers where the goal is and Faes somehow gets taken out of the side, Belgium will be dangerous in the knockouts. Given how the bracket is shaping up with Spain, Portugal, and Germany all on the same side, if they can win the group, there’s a decent chance they make a run.

All four on 3 points going into the last game. 5 o'clock kick-offs should be interesting today...
I fear less interesting than we'd hope as Romania and Slovakia know a draw between them takes both through. That's got to put the 0-0 odds on. Neither will be thinking about "who to avoid" in the second round, so this is likely a write off.

Remains to be seen...

Last night I said Belgium couldn't finish third - and thus play England in the last 16. I was wrong. While it is very unlikely they finish third (because I'll be staggered if Romania-Slovakia isn't a 0-0), Belgium could finish third if they lost to Ukraine and Slovakia beat Romania. Providing they didn't lose by 4, they'd then play England in the last 16.
