Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

thing is , once a keeper is shot of confidence it can take an age to get back, and during that time, more mistakes are made. joe hart goes thro these times, the best thing pellegrini did a couple seasons back was bench him for a couple of months. he came back better for it.

Good point. Probably bit different to other positions as it's very mental. Staying focused when you're not part of the game for a while.

Pep needs a new defence. They're hopeless. He'd better get his cheque book out pronto.
There's not much wrong with Silva and De Bruyne but Aguero needs a big partner up top. Sterling's not strong enough.

It's a bit like Martinez was at Everton. They both want to play in a very particular way, but neither of them have ( or had ) good enough players to make it work.

The City defence just aren't comfortable enough on the ball to make it work week in, week out, so Pep either needs better players or he needs to adopt a more pragmatic style.

He ain't going to do the latter so he'll be looking to strengthen his squad, particularly in defence. It'll be interesting to see just how much faith ( financially ) the City board show in him, and how long they'll give him to demonstrate that he's doing better than his predecessor.

Today's they reminded me so much of Martinez era Everton it hurt.

All that faffing around with the ball in or around their own box......inviting trouble and when it inevitably comes, conceding goals as a result.

That style is looking increasingly anachronistic.

makes it all the stranger that he didnt stick with willy after he kept a clean sheet in the week. pep knows bravo is shot of confidence and chose to stick with him.

klopp got challenged on karius and chose to bench him for mignolet. which was the right thing to do at the time, even tho it would of hurt his feelings having to admit to being slightly wrong about him.

pep could learn something from klopp here.

i think he is too pig headed tho, even if it to the teams detriment.

His decision to get rid of Hart looks more laughable with each passing week

Sound decision at the time I think considering one of them would've been generally rated higher and on top of that uses the ball much better. You can't predict a top keeper is going to drop off performance wise, and it's not like Hart was going to sit around as second choice and wait for a chance.

Hart is a much better keeper than that flapper and most saw it at the time.

I'm finding it bizarre there is so much defense of Hart since the summer, as I'm sure before that the talk was of him being overrated and error prone on an all too regular basis.

He is probably better than him at coming for corners or high balls. Maybe.

He wasn't a flapper for the last few seasons that I've been watching Bravo. And he definitely had the higher profile and rating in World Football being a consistently good performer for club and country.

I was hoping we would buy Hart, I've always rated the lad

Won't be here this time next season

It's truly amazing this fella is finally being shown up for what he is, A decent manager given two of the biggest clubs in world football in two leagues that have 2-3 decent sides

always said it, he failed at bayern. They were unstoppable when he went there, they utterly destroyed barca 7-0 on aggregate and he went there and turned them bloody dull. I'd love to see how city's wage structure would cope without incoming champions league money, bit of a shame this loss didn't come just after the window had shut actually.

Guardiola is essentially a novice. Any half competent manager would have farmed trophies with the teams he had at Barcelona and Munich. He has never before had to manage against clubs with playing resources approaching the equal of his and that is why he is a novice.

He has never had to learn to defend so he didn't learn and is being shown up.

He may develop into a good manager but at the moment he is on a steep learning curve.
