Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

I like the way that he gets an extra 5% out of already top notch performers, proving that he is an actual 'coach' and not just a manager that spends trillions and assembles a ready made squad.

the difference in sterling and de bruyne is astounding. that extra 5% in performance = winning games 7-2 when last year at 3-2 they might very well of drawn that game.

lolCity being “self sufficient” is a Tale from Arabian Nights :pint2:

Richest club bar none, funded by a country's oil reserves, found clever ways to beat financial fair play, wasted millions on players but after over half a billion spent they've finally got an outstanding side, they are a joy to watch.

The City owners have spent upwards of £1.2bn since they took over the club. Obviously, modern football works on the basis that the most successful clubs take the biggest financial rewards (and hence make bigger profits), but you need to spend big to get there in the first place, so it's naive to act as though their abundance of riches isn't the reason they're at the top.
A couple of years ago, when Real Madrid won the CL after knocking City out of the semis, City earned more than they did - £76m. All the tricks that Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool adopted to carve up the League and Europe for themselves are now ironically benefiting City.

Ok, got this wrong. Despite having a defence that doesn't look great they are trying to do it the Newcastle under Keegan way. We will outscore you no matter what you do against us and they are better at it than the Barcodes were.

I have never denied we are at the top purely because of our owners. They invested heavily and it has paid off handsomely. What irked me was the notion that we are still reliant on them to function. Sponsorship from Abu Dhabi is only 13% of our income, the Etihad deal is only 10%. They had to invest heavily to dine at the top table. Now we are there and the club is self sufficient. That may be an uncomfortable truth for some, but it's the truth nonetheless.

Etihad,Arabnet,Etisalat,Abu Dhabi Tourism,Aabar is more like 90% of your commercial revenues and around 60-70% of your entire turnover, your matchday revenue is skewed on the fact those 1000's of empty seats we see at your ground on tv are bought by your owners and classed as sold to boost your matchday revenue to improve your FFP standing.

Your Nike deal is only 13 million pound a year when bigger clubs have deals 5 to 10 times bigger per year showing outside of your owners you're not really a big draw outside Abu dhabi for commercial deals as your club for standing is mid tier.

To say your entire turnover is only 13% from abu dhabi is simply laughable, you and PSG are state funded with owner linked companies that have added about 300 million to both your turnovers, both of your clubs are still for worldwide fanbases no where near the big clubs but somehow both your turnovers are bigger than established clubs except bayern United barca and real madrid.

I am expecting your abu dhabi tourism board commercial deal to be on par with PSG's qatar tourism board which is 100 million Euroes a year (it was originally 200 million euros but UEFA halved it).

Not been on here in yonks. Hello Evertonions, glad you are now able to spend decent money nowadays in order to compete. Without money, clubs (Leicester a very rare exception) simply cannot compete year on year in order to be successful. Been a City supporter since the late 60's, well before the moneymen came to change our fortune in '08. Been in a football wilderness of nothing during the dark 80's and 90's. Many other clubs supporters have either forgot or don't know the depths we've been to and humiliating defeats suffered. We'll this elephant hasn't forgot!

Unfortunately, nowadays the game is all about money, and in many ways we are morphing into another Man-ure, going all corporate, fancy glass tunnel for rich glory hunters to take selfies by, with no understanding or genuine affinity of how we used to be, for the love of our club, whatever division we were in. We were in constant turmoil, yo-yo-ing relegation/promotion with knackered journeymen mixed with naive youngsters, as that's all we could often cobble together. Run by a bent chairman who sold our club badge rights to Umbro, we didn't even own our own club shop. Almost went out of business too. In some ways I miss the bad old days of being sh!t, but that said, these days we have several world class players playing sublime football we could only once dream of watching.

As for Guardiola, it's been a steep learning curve. Last season we couldn't play his way with ageing fullbacks in front of a keeper with zero confidence. This season, he's addressed several issues and we now look like we could maintain enough form to win the league.

Don't know what the consensus is on here about Guardiola but it's making me giggle some of the pro-Guardiola toldyaso brigade resurfacing after this recent good run as if they haven't spend a billion pounds on being able to dominate the league.

Well that's just not true at all. The latest accounts show that entire commercial revenue was 45% of turnover for a start. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/01/premier-league-finances-club-by-club And you are way over-exaggerating the amount of income that comes from Abu Dhabi related businesses, the club has signed deals with plenty of other sponsors (e.g Nexen, Nissan and SAP)

your matchday revenue is skewed on the fact those 1000's of empty seats we see at your ground on tv are bought by your owners and classed as sold to boost your matchday revenue to improve your FFP standing.

So the owners are buying up all the tickets? Your choice if you want to believe that.

That deal was signed over 5 years ago, let's see what the next one is to get a true value.

That may be true of PSG but it's nonsense to suggest City have done that, the link I posted earlier shows it's nowhere near an accurate claim.

They're already a commercial partner and clearly not paying anything like that or it would be conspicuously noticeable in the accounts.
