Only kidding mate, didn't even read it, was just fulfilling @Connor prophecy.

Issa good post amongst all the Gylfi praisers who can't accept that whilst others - i.e. myself who is his biggest critic - can be happy with his performance on Saturday and still want that little bit more each week.

But that's enough.

I prefer not to speak about it.

..I think you have to accept him for the ‘type’ he is. He’s not a ball carrying midfielder, he’s not going to dictate games but he’ll look to get on the end of things and be a danger in the top third. He’ll be effective because he’s capable of winning games like he did on Saturday.

And I get that, and have come to appreciate that, but as I keep on posting - I just want that bit more. Not a whole lot. Just a little.

Can't rely on him each and every week to secure a Goal of the Season contender like Saturday so when he's having a below par game - like he did against a Bournemouth - just contribute a little bit more than he does already so that he doesn't have to worry about digging us out of the mire.

Stick centrally, get toes on things to help break up play, make simple balls when needed and create chances when those opportunities present themselves. Don't go sticking yourself out wide as he has done in games.

..yep, I agree we want him to be consistently effective and positively influencing games. Ultimately, it’s how these blokes fit into a team and perhaps his recent form is because the likes of Bernard compliments his game.

Has a footballing brain
Can see the whole pitch
As was said he knew where Schmeicel was before he got the ball
Barkley saying he was never coached at Everton , forgetting his manager was the bestest brown shoe wearing coach in the world
I think what he said was true tbh. We've had series of managers who have coached tactics, but not players. I think this guy we have now does both.

It's a massive shame that Barkley isn't coming through our system now. He'd be the BTB midfielder we're crying out for.

I'm not saying that it automatically makes someone a good player if they are stylistically like Silva or Arteta, but more often than not, a player of that type will be key to the way in which team plays.

My point about Sigurdsson isn't that he should be that type of player, simply that if he's not, and if he's not a deep lying centre mid, or a winger, or a traditional number 10, or a striker, and if he's not scoring or creating as much as he should, then what is it exactly that he is doing?

Which I concede is not so much of an issue when he is doing and producing what he has been recently. It's an observation that a number of people have had, and an opinion that he is validating by showing us what he could've been providing much more frequently in the year he's been here.

And as I said before, long may it continue.

Again, not an unreasonable post, but it's STILL the wrong observation by many. Why does there have to be a Silva or Arteta in the team? What does it matter if he's not a deep lying mid, he's not a winger, he's not a traditional 10, not a center forward, WHO CARES? This idea that it HAS to be part of a tactics is SOOOOO outdated. It simply doesn't.

Look, we aren't Man City. But does Klopp play with a traditional playmaker? Heck no. Frankly, that squad can't break any decent defense down if they are playing disciplined football, they create everything of a counter press, so it would be pointless.

Silva loves to play counter attacking football. He doesn't care about possession at least not as a core tactic. We don't have one. And that's FINE. Maybe when we have the lead he'd like to hold it a bit. But he'll just drop back into a 4-2-3-1 if that's the case or a 4-4-2, where Siggy is one of the 2. And again, that's FINE.

And in terms of production, he has one assist. That's it. He is suddenly not able to pass the ball? Of course not. He averages almost 3 key passes a game and we've got no one higher than 1.5, but why does everyone get so hung up on the fact that he only makes 20 some passes a game? He's in essence playing up higher, almost as a second striker. Again, FINE.

But even worse, why is it that players have NO history prior to Everton? No one had a good year last year. No one. But Sigurdsson and others to a lesser extent have been pretty darn good in the past and in his case, playing against the same competition for Swans and Tottenham as he did for Everton. But because he - AND THE WHOLE TEAM - didn't produce well last year, he stinks? It was just silly, devoid of logic, you name it.

Goal.com - Maybe it's because his middle name is Thor...
