We don’t give him the ball enough, give him the ball with people already on their bike before he receives it and he will play a decent ball , usually first time . He’s a class footballer with a top attitude and work rate and if he cost 20m people wouldn’t say he is an excellent signing. His price tag only has barring on his value as in bang for your buck , it on no way changes his quality as a player , he’s not David Silva level but Lear’s face it , from the top 4 down he walks into every other team in the league
You could be right on him receiving the ball, he doesnt seem to get it much in the middle of the pitch with players pushing forward. Of course that could be his issue, or it could be gameplan or other players. Still, I certainly think hes talented, I just view it as we are trying to put a top 4 player in every position on the pitch, and IMHO the one Gylfi fits is the most important position on the pitch, linking defence and attack. In order to truly dominate games, we need a player worth 40-50 million in that position, and despite costing that much, Gylfi isnt that.

Honestly thought he was pretty ineffective playing next to Gomes. Also thought Gomes wasn't very effective either today.

That ball to set up Richarlison was perfect. He was pushed further forward at that point with Davies and Gueye on the pitch.

The deep lying role doesn't suit him IMO.

The fact that he works so hard defensively imo means that he isn’t always available in the area that he is most deadly. I mean if he’s on the edge of his own box tracking back then we break he’s not going to be up pitch is he? Especially if Walcott, Bernard etc are dribbling the ball up the pitch as they are both faster than him. In gomes we finally have a player other than siggy that can split lines. Siggy can sit in the gap between their def and midfield and gomes actually has the quality to split their mid and give siggy the ball in that area. Previously we had gana , davies , mcarthy etc none of which have that eye and timing of a pass. Trouble now is we need to sign gomes and then another Cm that is. Mix of gana and gomes , ie a midfielder that can press but also pick forward passes. Then or rather even more importantly , we neee a striker with good movement and ideally with a lot of pace and finishing . Top 4 is the aim but in reality to attract top 4 players you need to be in the top 4 , catch 22 I suppose or you have to find them young or like gomes , take a gamble on a player that has failed after a big move and that is motivated to get their career back on track. Our right side isn’t good enough imo and doesn’t create enough of a worry for other teams , meaning it’s easier for them to target our strong side when defending, having both right and left sides strong will mean that the centre has more room and can be more creative

Biggest problem with gylfi is the lack of a decent striker. With a forward that could finish he would have had lots of assists. The type of ball he gave richarlison yesterday is something he does a lot, only for the striker/Walcott to make a mess of it.

And our problem is the fact that the player best at making those runs is also the player best at fluffing his chance (Walcott). It is something I think Richarlison is improving on though, presumably in part because he has never played with a playmaker of that quality before this season

Needs to hand over penalties to someone else.Really poor against Burnley. Keeper doesn't guess wrong and its an easy save.

What an absurd comment. Keeper goes the wrong way, strokes it to the opposite side. You’re basically saying blast it into the top corner or it’s a poor penalty. He’s missed a couple this season but his overall record is still quite strong.

Keeper stands up for a split second more and guesses right and it's an easy save. Not enough on it and too far inside the post.Watch it a couple of times.

Sending the keeper the wrong way is an important part of scoring penalties. There are guys who barely ever miss and they wait for the keeper to move.
Nobody sends the keeper the "wrong way" keepers watch the videos do their homework, then guess. The best penalty takers put plenty on the ball and put it just inside the post. The best striker of the ball should always take penalties. Think the last few games have shown who that is.

"If the keeper had saved the penalty it would have been a bad penalty".

Surely that applies to every single penalty taker.
It's a bad penalty if it's under hit and too far inside the post. Which is what his last few have been. Put your boot through it and even if the keeper gets hands to it, really good chance either he still won't keep it out,or someone will put in the rebound.

Hazard passes his penalities in and some aren't in the corner.. hes probably not the best striker of a ball at Chelsea either

I want more from him

More goals, more assists, more running, more tackling, more of everything.

15+ goals and 12+ assists and he can say he's had a decent season. He's capable of those type of numbers.
