Genuine question, has he scored a free kick for us? Seemed to be banging them in for Swansea regularly but can't remember him scoring one for us. Could be wrong like.

Scored 2 and 1 assist in 6 games means he's on par to play a part in 19 goals this season.
That'd be a decent return with others chipping in. Some fans on here are saying he did nothing before the goal and nothing sheet, but what about the other ten + players who didn't contribute anything either? We win as a team and lose as a team, but our fans look for scapegoats and don't realise that about 8/9 players' threads are open after every defeat with criticisms of the mere negative.
No I agree a deep-lying playmaker controls a game, but the way Silva sets up at the moment, and with the players we CURRENTLY have available, we don't have that role in the side.
So for now, we need Gomes to be able to come in and be the centre-mid that gets his foot on the ball and gets it into the front men - that's either by driving forward and carrying the ball or threading a pass (which he can do). The other midfielder then needs to be an energetic 'DM' (Gana/McCarthy) who can cover the full-back on one side.
What we need is a measured approach to attacks. You don't need a deep-lying playmaker in the natural sense to do that. You do need someone who can at least get on the ball and set a tempo and move up the pitch. Rooney, when played deeper last year, did this to a point. As did Ross.
I expect him to be able to get the ball into the front men, which is what he can do.
I'm not expecting him to be a Thiago-type who sits at the anchor point in a midfield three and control a game that way, no.
At last someone grasps the sort of player he is.
He can't play in midfield 2 or wide in 3.
The only role he can play is no.10 and I question if he has the creativity to play that role in the way in which say Beardsley played it.
His delivery from dead balls was supposed to be excellent but he hasn't produced anything of that quality in the time time with us.
So yes he can play no.10 but is he really good enough?
He isn't our biggest problem but definately not the answer either.
Ask yourself this how much would we get on the ( inflated ) market for him now? I suspect his value will have dropped considerably and we would do well to get £25 mill
Have to cut our losses with him.
Too slow to play how Silva wants us. What a waste of money.
His freekick in good territory yesterday summed him up. Smashed straight in a players face.
Him and Niasse will be gone soon (I hope)
Haha no he wouldn't!He's a massive part of the problem. He'd be out the team if he wasn't our record signing.
Said it since day one, he's not a playmaker and not a very good number 10. His best work at Swansea came from the left.
He doesn't know how to find space, his passing is average, he's not quick enough on the ball, and just spends the whole game on the periphery when you're needing him to do a lot more.
The day we signed him for 45mil was the day I knew Walsh and Koeman didn't have a clue.
i dont understand at all. like why he doesnt show up in the first 35 minutes then later that scores a header, work his ass off puts a shift then the last 10 minutes he disappeared again. just make him a sub player he will play nice 30 minutes when hes subbed in
