I think it shows that he's not getting supply up the middle of the park. Can't find it now but saw numbers earlier this week showing how much of our attack goes up the flanks vs. the middle - we had one of the lowest % of attacks up the middle in the PL last year. Understandable with Digne and Coleman but I think this is why Sig has been isolated. Only until after the 17-day break did things improve- and that's when we had Gomes at his best, and also Gueye suddenly discovering some talent going forward and passing for the first time ever (probably to woo PSG).

JPG won't be as good as Gueye in the sweeper role, but I hope that with him, Delph, and/or Gomes in the middle, and Mina better on the ball than Zouma, that we'll be able to do a better job getting the ball up the middle to Sig if we stay in the 4-2-3-1.

Gueye in the sweeper role? I must have missed that. Even though JPG has played CB, box to box midfield, I think silva see’s his as a number 6 that will sit and protect the 2 CB’ and start attacks from deep.

This was never Gueye’s role. Yes he won loads of tackles abs was great at winning the ball back, but mainly he was pressing high up the pitch and trying to win the ball in the oppositions half.

Totally different player to Gbamin imo.

I just don't get it.

The lad has been our main threat for 1.5 seasons, has incredible vision and has scored some absolute blammos consistently.

But not just that, he works his socks off even when those around him are not really firing at all.

Gets a very unjustified amount of stick in my opinion. Is he perfect? Of course not. But he was our joint top scorer last season, is one of our hardest workers and gets assists.

I agree to an extent.

Although I think that in games like last week’s it’s much easier for Schneiderlin the crab and the new boy Gbamin to just knock it out wide instead of finding Sigurdsson in a tight area. Gomes is a quality player but could maybe do this more himself as well.

Sigurdsson wasn't available nearly enough to put the blame on those behind him. I agree that we have had problems playing forward from midfield but Sigurdsson is part of that problem and not someone who is harmed by it. If he were dropping deeper to find it or something like that it would be different, but he kind of just sits around where Calvert-Lewin is and waits for it.

Had a stinker on Saturday but is our best... and only... number 10. He'll be fine this season. More concerned about Bernard's lack of effectiveness on the left, despite his lovely footwork and quick brain. Genuinely think if he was one-on-one with the keeper he'd try to do a reverse pass to Digne.

I too am concerned about this. He has to start scoring more goals or creating more assists. Maybe the arrival Iwobi will provide the added competition he needs.

If he gives Kean the same amount on one on ones that he has given Walcott then we'll have little to worry about.
