2019/20 Gylfi Sigurdsson

I presume the people who criticise Sigurdsson are the same who used to moan about Lukaku and claimed we'd be a more potent team without him .

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing him with a striker who actually makes a decent run now and again.

Maybe you shouldn't presume.

I loved Rom when he played for us and was gutted to see him go.

With Gylfi, he's clearly very talented and occasionally he will pull off a pass or score a goal which is truly beautiful. However, he infuriates me when the game passes him by. The No 10 role is so important for us, and quite often he doesn't take the match by the scruff of the neck and make it his own. I very rarely come away from Goodison feeling like Gylfi controlled the flow of our attacking play.

Yet he does control the flow of our attacking play.

He’s just had an off game. Games can pass players by and they can still score or create a match winning chance. That’s what good players do.

You could see the disappointment in his face when he was subbed. He knows.

What's funny about this thread is its on 11 page now, Siggy was crap yesterday and Richarlison was crap, our two leading scorers from last season, but this thread has 11 pages of nonsense not the Brazilian's.

Richarlison hogs the ball all the time. Refuses to pass when there's a player in a better position but gets let off while Siggy takes all the stick because he's not as 'sexy' a player, because he's not fast and doesn't dribble all the time.

It's crazy how much stick Siggy gets when he's our most productive player.

Richy did hog it yesterday for sure. Just refused to play it to Coleman for some reason. Missed an absolute massive chance on the top of the box (not quite zone 14 for you all keeping score). But he did bust his tail even when he was tired to help Seamus out with Zaha.

That's the thing.

Richarlison does a lot of good things but he does some bad things too but seems above criticism.

Siggy is the same but get's slaughtered because he's not a 'hipster' player.

I just don't get why Siggy, our most productive player is getting so much stick when ...

Pickford makes mistakes because he's over confident.

Coleman can't cross.

Keane takes half an hour to turn.

Mina is wreckless.

Richarlison hogs the ball.

Morgs is useless.

Bernard can't shoot and isn't productive enough.

DCL can't shoot to save his life.

Siggy is arguably our best player and is a team player, yet seems to get more stick than other players who have even more glaring weaknesses.

I'm not sure what reality some people are living in.

Had a stinker on Saturday but is our best... and only... number 10. He'll be fine this season. More concerned about Bernard's lack of effectiveness on the left, despite his lovely footwork and quick brain. Genuinely think if he was one-on-one with the keeper he'd try to do a reverse pass to Digne.

Its because he isn't a traditional 10 that holds the ball. So since it doesn't fit the traditional model, he sucks, or he hides.
