SWANS CONFIRM SIGURDSSON INTEREST

Paul Clement has admitted there is “strong interest” in star man Gylfi Sigurdsson.

“I am planning for him to be here but there is clearly some very strong interest in him," Clement said. "We will have to see what happens.”

Koeman wants him I think no matter. It's when probably not if

We have a couple of players we could use to sweeten the deal. McCarthy + 25 mill sounds like a good deal for all concerned.

I don't think Swansea would want a defensive midfielder in place of their playmaker.

Especially as they've just spent £11m on a central midfielder as well.

Quick introduction. I'm a Swansea fan myself, but my uncle is a long-time Everton fan who goes up to Goodison a couple of times a season, so I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Everton because of that.

I've been monitoring the Gylfi Sigurdsson story for a while now after hearing that the player was interested in a move (although nothing public yet). What I will say is that, in a market where Keane and Pickford are bought for fees worth up to £30m, we don't want to let go of our most valuable asset and one of the best number 10s in the league for peanuts. Gylfi covers a hell of a lot of distance (6th in the league last season), is far and away the best set-piece taker in the league, has three years remaining on his contract and qualifies as home-grown. You could argue that some of his creative stats aren't as great Barkley's, but the stats are skewed by, A) The fact he was playing out of his favoured position for most of the season (on the wing, as a false nine) and, B) The sheer amount of tracking he did negatively impacted on his decision-making in the final third. I don't think you'll pay £50m for him, but it needs to be a fair bit more than the £32m previously offered. Anything upwards of £40m and I think our board will be quite happy to accept it.

Either way, good luck for the coming season. I think Koeman is building a good project and it would be nice to see Everton challenge for the Champions League places.

He's worth more to them than he is to us though. Without him they'll probably go down. But I agree that we shouldn't pay much more than £30m for him.

Swans aren't Aston Villa (who finished mid table). There is some talent there + parachute payments + Siggy money if they sell. If everything goes wrong there they'll still finish at least 10th.

welcome mate (you're not my brother are you?) stick around, we appreciate fans of other clubs, as long as they're not bitter RS or patronising mancs ... or brazilain chelsea fans, hmm.

Swansea really need to stop selling their best players, the squad gets weaker every season, is llorente going to be going as well?

Think siggurdson is exactly the player we need, that's a good point you make about the tracking back actually, we would hope should he come here, he wouldn't have to do as much, being the main man, which will then mean he can solely focus on attacking, and then he will show the some on here that he's not just a set piece specialist. The main problem i have is that if he's brought here, he'll almost certainly be out of position again. We've brought in klaassen who will be a starter, who's central and schneiderlin and gueye would be a shoe in for most games, so whether klaassen plays deeper or futher forward, we'll be having options of klaassen, siggurdson, rooney, barkley and sandro who are all best centrally, but will actually be playing wide forward, minus one of them.

It's hard to guage on prices this summer, up until last week i was saying "nothing more than £35m for gylfi", but now swansea have named £50m and the prices i'm seeing, now i'm starting to think upping to £40 wouldn't be so bad after all. It's just whether you think there's better value abroad ... then i come back to my original realisation than everything about siggurdson is what we need and can rely on.

i have serious doubts about that tbh. who knows though under clement, finished the season very strongly.

If they'll finish at least 10th without Sigurdsson where would they finish with him?! Are they our rivals for the Top 6

With the utter hard on for Iceland and with him mentioning Rooney at 10 at the presser yesterday im almost sure Ronny will be playing something like a 4-2-3-1 this season.
