Poor old Gylfi is looking like Everton's worst ever pound for pound signing.

To play devils advocate, slightly, he's looking like the worst ever footballing signing.

I get that you have the likes of Ali Dia and Andy Carroll but this is a significant money record signing, for a position we didn't need, for a position where our best player plays, and with a style of play and impact on a match completely diametrically opposing to anything desirable. Oh and the signing meant we were unable to get a forward or a defender.

£45m on him and £25m on Klaassen? £70m?? Dear lord.
Could have got a striker and another centre back for that. Key areas of the pitch left in limbo. Really poor choices and decisions made in latter part of transfer window. Koeman has to stand or fall by those choices. Fall being the obvious way to go!

Why mate? I think Everton are a step-up from Swansea.

I did, you were awful. But, I'm just looking at the bigger picture. Swansea see a successful season as finishing 4th bottom. Your club, has a much bigger ambition and want to push on and finish at the very least in the top-10. I know, at the moment you're a millions miles away from that from today's showing, but overall, this move was supposed to be him stepping-up to play for a team with no desire to be flirting with relegation. I was just making a point that I'm not sure he can do it for a 'bigger club'.

Sorry mate, I see the point you're making and after today's performance I see why you'd find it a daft statement - I was just meaning in general.

Hope that clarifies what I was trying to say.

Edit - I've just quoted my post not yours so it looks like I'm having an argument with myself. Which I do from time to time after a few drinks, but not on a football forum

I've had a mare

They seemed to buy him out of politeness. Went for him initially got knocked back, signed others in his position and then seemingly kept trying probably due to the fact they had already taped him up and felt obliged.

£45 million on a 28 year old from Swansea crazy

He's been toilet but will wait to see what the new manager gets out of him before writing him off, same goes for all the new signings. Some I fear are a lost cause though.

Honestly...for me we could've got for that price or £10mill more -

Chadli (was about to go to Swansea)
Walcott (doesn't play)
Luke Shaw (Jose don't like him)

Sensible. Would've done a job. Add more balance in attack, and a full back we need.

You can write him off because he's never been a player for that price.

He's a decent player who works with a target man and wingers. Even then, he's still okay.

Buying Klassen was the one that made no sense. Siggy will come good when he has people to pass the ball to.
