he is quite obviously one of our better players, if he'd come in for £5m everyone would think he was great, next season we should hopefully see the best of him

For £20 I can buy a really good meal.

Give me the same meal for £200 and I won't enjoy it because I'll always be thinking how expensive it was and how I could get something as good for a 10th of the price.

I mentioned Gross (who went to Brighton for about £5m) in the summer, he has 5 goals, 8 assists and is 2 years younger. He has his limitations too but quite why we had to spend that much I will never know.

what your saying there makes a lot of sense, but its the people calling for him to basically be culled with the rest of the tripe when actually he does have a lot to offer, id say they were wrong

Weird analogy.

If the food is quality then it's quality - regardless of the price. Sure, it's possible to 'overpay' for most stuff, but how's that any slight on the product/service itself? or even the provider? That's down to the customer.

For me, next season is the time to judge. It wasn't just Koeman et al who thought he was a quality player, practically every professional that talks about him says he's a cut above and class. In moments, he often looks the best player on the pitch - but not enough. I think the price tag has to be in the context of the mental last summer when everything was ridiculous. As I say, I'll judge at the end of next season when we finish third and win the FA Cup with a Tosun hat-trick.

On the contrary - any fan without a pre-established agenda (based primarily around his 'inflated' transfer fee) would clearly see that he's a quality player and currently one of our best.

I genuinely don't get people.
Using our current squad as the yardstick is setting the bar a seriously low. Who have we got that is a quality player?
Coleman
Rooney, when playing well.
Possibly Gana, but he's seriously far from the player we saw last season.
The rest of kids, part-its, or not good enoughs.

I couldn't care less about his fee, it's not my money. I just go off what I see this season, and have seen in the last 6 or so he's been in the PL.

He's got good technical ability and that's it. His vision as an attacking player is sorely lacking, which is probably why he has spent much of his career out wide, and calling for him to play centrally is just Bilyaletdinov all over again.

the price of the meal doesn't change the taste though does it. Value for money. yes I agree, but all you want is the best meal so you are happy to pay for it. You can lucky and get a good rump steak but if you buy fillet its nice every time
