He has played 500 minutes more than any other attacker in our squad.
Lets per 90 these stats up and add in DCL (for when he plays on the left) and Rooney (who has played some games at #10) plus the player he replaced.

For those that don't want to click the link.

Gylfi tackles and intercepts more than Barkley/Rooney/DCL
Barkley produced almost twice the output of Gylfi on every attacking metric.
Passes 50 vs 27
Forward passes 27 vs 16
Key passes 2.36 vs 1.39
Assists 0.25 vs 0.12
Successful dribbles 1.92 vs 0.8
Pass completion 83% vs 76% (and RB average pass was longer)
Total shots 2.73 vs 1.55

People can keep pretending it isn't a massive downgrade but the stats don't lie.

Yep. Take a look at the chances created too. Chalk and cheese.

Amazed someone just seriously posted those stats to defend Sigurdsson. His anonymity is one of the reasons his personal stats are so low and the rest of the team has suffered as a result.

The same people criticised Barkley too hahahahaha - as said when we signed Sigurdsson, he's a very good player if you build an entire team around him (which we haven't), but he doesn't make others better. Barkley, quite simply, did.

Barkley was overrated because he was local and came through the ranks. He is not a creative player but in time may make a number 8 after Chelsea have broken down his game and put it back together.
Sigurdsson has impressed me in what has been a difficult season for everybody.

This. It's why he looked outstanding at Swansea, bombed at Spurs, looked outstanding at Swansea again and is looking like an expensive mistake here.

Overrated? I mean the stats are there.

Ross literally creates twice as much as Gylfi, and has done consistently.

Passes the ball twice as much, with greater accuracy, at greater length.

4 times as many successful dribbles.

The only area where Gylfi scores higher are tackles and interceptions, which I don't see as the main job of a #10.

The only thing about comparing Siggy and Ross in terms of stats, is Ross was mainly playing number ten for us. Sig has played about four games at ten and been decent. Sig started slow and has improved he was never a 45m pound player but that is not his fault. Although I agree Ross created more with his driving runs and dribbles, we miss that, Sig is more about workrate, crosses from set pieces, shots and ticking the ball over. We will miss him amongst our patchwork team.

That's not even true, he hasn't even been close. He's been average to good at best. Coleman in the 4 matches has been better, Pickford has been better for the entire season, Walcott has been clearly had more impact since he's come here than Sigurdsson has had since he has.
This in a nutshell.

Walcott has had much more of an impact in the short time he`s been here and you actually know he`s on the pitch too.
