He didn't make much of a difference against Watford and Burnley in his last two away games did he?
He was our best player against Burnley, creating clearcut chances for Walcott & DCL. (which they both missed)
Against Watford he had Martina/Kenny as fullbacks, with himself & Walcott on the wings.
Oh yeah and Rooney/Davies in midfield with Niasse upfront. No Playmaker can thrive with those players.
We miss him, in my opinion.
Gylfi created 33% of our goals in the 33 matches he played for us this season. 12 goals/assists out of 36.
He also didn't take any penalties, which Rooney & Baines took 9 of.
Gylfi could have 20-21 of our 36 goals/assists during that period. 55.5%-58.3%
Instead we let Rooney take 7 penalties and miss 4. Rooney has created 14 of Everton's 48 goals this season. 29%
Scored 3 penalties, 3 goals in 1 game against West Ham (1 was a rebound from a missed penalty)
1 of his 3 assists was a pass to Sigurdsson where he scored out of nothing against Swansea.
That's 5 of Rooney's 14 goals/assists that were either penalties or shouldn't have counted as an assist.
Our season would have been much better if we never signed Rooney. 0 goals/assists in his previous 13 matches.
Gylfi is scheduled to return to training in 6 days, and if he does play again for us this season then I think this would be the best possible XI.
Vlasic is way more clinical than Bolasie, Walcott is lost without Sigurdsson & I cannot imagine Klaassen offering less than Rooney, Davies or Schneiderlin in attack.
