I personally think anyone wanting to sell him is an idiot.

Why though? It’s a pretty logical situation for many.

Approaching 30
Coming off a bad knee injury
Underperformed for the price we paid
A very big earner when we’re trying to shift some big earners

I’m not his biggest fan (understatement), nor am I actively campaigning for him to be sold but to dismiss anyone whose came to a conclusion that is pretty logical as an idiot is a bit off.

I disagree that he's underperforming. He was consistently our best player when he played, scored and created goals in a terrible team. What do you expect exactly

Scored five or six and assisted another four, I think.

I just expect a lot more from a man who one, cost the best part of fifty million and two, is hailed as one of the best attacking midfielders in the league.

We spent seven months hoofing it past him

Again, this excuse falls under the 'must do more' category.

How many times last season when he was playing 'well' did he really take over a game like you'd expect a player of his price/supposed calibre? Think I can name about two off the top of my head - Burnley away and Lyon at home. We lost both games.

He just doesn't do enough to command the plaudits he gets, for me. I can recognise that he is talented - I've said as much during his team at his former clubs - but in person, for our football club, he just hasn't done enough.

I sincerely hope Silva can get the best out of him because, again, yes he could be key to any success - I think that's clear enough to all of us, even the most ardent critics like myself.

Just do more. Don't shy away by jogging out wide. Take over a game. Control a game. Command the ball.

Do. More.

Mate shearer in his prime would have struggled for us last year, we were terrible and still cannot believe we finished we're we did, we made palace, WBA, saints all look like the Brazil 1970 team. Only player to have anything resembling a half decent season was Pickford

In all fairness he had Sandro, Niasse and Bolasie to pass it to. I rate him, but regardless I’d definitely give him at least until January.

Wayne Rooney got double figures for us last season.

Prime Shearer would have gotten at least 20
