We have much worse players than Siggy. If we were getting rid to the worst players in order we would not have enough to form a team by the time we got to him.
It will be interesting to see how he goes in a team who are trying to play football and win.

Hes a very good player, very, very good, the type of player that a team wishing to aspire should have, he works hard, hes not a primadonna, hes all about the team and hes got a LOT of talent.

Don’t forget Zat, he was playing relatively well for us when he got injured, and was arguably better than Messi tonight.

Now of course I’m not saying he’s better than Messi, but there’s a player there and we’d be foolish to sell in my view.

Its important to remember that fools have feelings too...

What have his wages got to do with whether we should keep him? It’s got zero to do with you and I what he earns - it’s how he performs that counts. He’s clearly one of the better players we have, if not the best currently. Just because he’s not 14 and bossing U-16 games doesn’t mean his no good.

Again, this excuse falls under the 'must do more' category.

How many times last season when he was playing 'well' did he really take over a game like you'd expect a player of his price/supposed calibre? Think I can name about two off the top of my head - Burnley away and Lyon at home. We lost both games.

He just doesn't do enough to command the plaudits he gets, for me. I can recognise that he is talented - I've said as much during his team at his former clubs - but in person, for our football club, he just hasn't done enough.

I sincerely hope Silva can get the best out of him because, again, yes he could be key to any success - I think that's clear enough to all of us, even the most ardent critics like myself.

Just do more. Don't shy away by jogging out wide. Take over a game. Control a game. Command the ball.

So weird how some players at this club are outright given a pass on their performance last season because of gash tactics and a terrible set up, while others are held to the fire as if those exact same conditions didn't exist for them.

Every single fanis guilty mate. Including you. We all have our faves.

Gylfi though?. Is certainly talented. To get the best out of him means playing him in the most important part of the pitch, so he has to deliver on a regular basis or we replace him with somebody who does. Lets hope Marco can get a tune out of him next season.

Yeah true, but that doesn't alter the fact that he hasn't been great for us. Hopefully that will change next season.

We need to stop making excuses for players. He needs to step it up next season.

While I do appreciate the slot against them...the fact Jagielka ran the length of the pitch and set up the goal does always make me realise its something Siggurdson doesn't do.

He was played as a wing forward on many occasions at the start of last season (trying to accommodate Klaassen and Rooney playing central) and it was only when Klaassen was dropped and Rooney played deeper than Gylfi got a decent run in his favoured position.

Personally I thought he played well most of the times he played there, but I can see why people would expect more for the price tag - he’s a talented player but he doesn’t grab a game by the scuff of it’s neck and win them alone.

Nonetheless, he price tag isn’t his fault and he’ll be good for us with a bit more quality around him.
