He’s not renowned for his pace by any means, but he got up the pitch and scored - honestly don’t know how he can be criticised for not being there any quicker.

I think Sigurdsson is more likely to be a vital player for an average team.

I think Barkley is (or was) more likely to be a better player consistently for a higher quality team.

Again, it's not just my eyes that tell me that, the stats do too.

Funny that those who used to bang on about Barkley being world class are now going with the narrative that ‘injury has ruined him’ rather than simply admitting they were wrong.

I’ve watched his games for Chelsea, he’s exactly the same player he was before the injury - slow thinking, frustrating and largely ineffective. His technical attributes and strength lift him up to what he always was - a run of the mill Premier League player.

Didn't run at all mate, I was sick of watching him pretend to press players, literally never tackling, not heading Etc defensively if was like we had ten men. He has zero input if we didn't have the ball, no that's fine when you produce the goods at the other end on the pitch and everything is going well. It's not ok when the team you apparently love is getting beat, when you are out of form and the fans are turning on you. He had all the natural ability in the world but he went backwards as a player. He basically meant we played 1 uptop as he did no defensive work at all, so his 8 goals he got that season could easily been scored by niasse if he was picked ahead of him. Barkley is a wasted talent that I feel cares more about rinsing birds in town and being the big I am than actually being a footballer

Hmmm, Yet since leaving Everton for Chelsea who are a superior team, when he does get a game he can’t even last a full 90 on the very few occasions they have used him. Even with Bakayoko being as bad as he was last season.

Gylfi is a pivotal figure in his international side, who in the last major competition did very well, so is proving it at the highest level. They didn’t start too bad yesterday either on the highest stage.

This agenda of “ its only Iceland” looks like desperate tactics to belittle anything he does, which for a level headed person is quite comical and rather transparent.
