The idea that Ross is the man who would pull us out of a bad run of form is a bit of a nonsense. In each of the last 3 seasons we've had lengthy runs of quite dreadful form. Ross was very much part and parcel of it.

Entirely agree. But you can pick Barkley up for 25 million whereas RK was happy to pay 45 million for a dead ball specialist.
My view is that you can't play Siggi and Rooney. Too similar. Slowish ball players who lack pace. Playing both upsets the balance of an aggressive attack.
To be honest I have very little expectation of his ability before he arrive. What shock me is that he does not even posses the ability to turn towards goal and spot a pass or create an opportunity. He simply lack this skill set which is bread and butter for an attacking midfielder. Play him left right or center and all he does is pick the most coward option and passes the ball back. Zero creativity.

You have literally never seen him play, then. All he does is create opportunities for himself or his teammates. It's not like he hasn't played against the same competition in the EPL for years at this point.
Watching that match and it is fairly clear that he had no idea how to get involved or where he was supposed to be. Baines was constantly looking for him and couldn't find him when he was on the ball.

I love how everyone is suggesting there were all these other alternatives better, yet never has anyone - maybe one person - offered anyone remotely comparable. The dude is class - already showed it with a wonder goal against Split that saved our collective tails getting us into the Europa group stage. There's plenty more magic from Siggy, just need to give him time.
