How is your comb over?

As I enter my 40s i’ve been happy to notice by thinning hair and growing bald patch. Not sure how to play things from here though so I’ve drawn up a list of options.

You missed out the do nothing option
Just let it go - polish the smooth bits, comb the hairy bits, get on with your life, the hair will do what it does anyway.

Hard to know which to pick. I’ve got a thick head of hair on me. No baldness in my family so it’s hard to pick what I’d do till I’m in that position. I think by the time I lose my hair I won’t know what’s going on anyway

Shave the remnants off yourself like I do, just leaving a random unmown strip somewhere around the back where you can't see you missed a bit. It adds to your unique identity around town.

The brain produces a lot of heat, but is easily damaged by that heat, so with balding, evolution has determined a solution to increase heat loss that for the more powerful brain. Equally, less powerful brains need to be kept warm with bountiful hair.

You don't see many bald women, do you? Eh lads? Lads?

Don't worry - red hair is particularly good at emitting infra-red heat, so it must be a sign that your brain is relatively active (not as good as black hair though). Blonde would be the worst emitter suggesting that minimal cooling was necessary - stands to reason.

Can't argue with science - its just the way of things.

.....mine largely went in my twenties but it’s pretty much remained the same for 40 years & never bothered me. None of the options fit for me, the bits that are bald are bald & the bits that have hair have hair, no comb overs, no bother. Haircut is a no2 all over.

I started getting Steve McClarens hair at 22. But using a trimmer now for buzzcuts and it ain't that bad. Cheaper than going to the barber which is nice because I never enjoyed going to them.
