City fan here having a scroll through.

For those saying the penalty wouldn’t have been given against City, please re-watch the penalty given against us in the FA Cup final which was a million times more dubious. Refs (and rules) are just crap, but don’t think this one is anywhere near as controversial as is being made out. Seen many worse.

Good luck for the season

Very good point from a journo at the wolves presser. The Odengarrd incident is also clearly not deliberate and they mitigate that with a slip. His hand is further away from his body than Onana who was closer to the player shooting at a faster speed with Onana travelling faster and sliding in. The whole refs have to apply the rules regards this incident doesn't stand up and lately its getting to a point with us where I'm being drawn closer to the conspiracy theorists.

We've had some absolute stinkers.

100%, but of course when Pep and his pre Madonnas have a moan they will probably change the directive to suit whatever Man Citys latest agenda is. Until City get a goal thats flagged offside when it was just onside. That would make me laugh hard!!
Absolutely. The flag staying down stuff only came about because they moaned. They'd go crazy if a wrong offside flag prevented a goalscoring opportunity for the big six. The only way out for the linesman is needing to be absolutely right 100% of the time, and that isn't going to happen.

Can't help but laugh at pre Madonna though, sorry.

Anything short of a blatant error, he'll back the ref 100%

I read his column each week, he'll say when someone is wrong. For instance, he wrote that the Odegaard handball was a penalty and should have been given (as most people other than the PMGOL believe).

But this rule tried to reduce subjectivity in these decisions, and therefore has created situations where penalties are given for unreasonable offenses and therefore the rule is applied inconsistently.

Realise I'm in the minority but I thought it was a pen. Deliberate or not he's swatted the ball down 5 yards from goal. I'd want it if it was for us, now whether we would actually be given it is a completely different conversation (we wouldnt)

If it was a a City player we wouldn't have been given it

Odegaard controlled and dictated the direction of the ball to his favour. Was also prolonged. Slip or not, it continued play in his favour. There's another where Gordon kept the ball in with his lower arm against Sheff United and set up a goal. Accidental but in the players favour to continue. Joelinton Vs Arsenal he basically controls it with his arm after pushing the keeper. All brushed aside.

A ball cannons off an Onana's arm (and face I think) from a 2 yards away as he tries to block a shot gets given. Nowhere near gaining any advantage as above and the proximity of the [Poor language removed] vs the player not even taken into consideration.

But each week they'll have different views cos it all depends who's in charge

For me it is completely unintentional and incredibly unfortunate, but it is a penalty. His arm undeniably stopped the ball. I do wish there was more consistency from officials on these rulings, but I’d struggle not to give it if I was an official.
