Squad playerBarkley got too big for his boots. Believed his own hype. FWIW I'd have him here now as squad player.

Squad playerhe’d be better than doucoure with one leg.
I'm not sure that's entirely fair. You can - fairly obviously - be out of your depth and look lost as a 17 year old at the top level without it meaning that your entire career is a write off. It’s great to see the positive comments now compared to the “ out of his depth, looked lost etc” comments in the early posts when he started a match. He’d already shown in the u21s and preseason that he he looked a special talent, the comments made about a17 year old then were baffling , no body expected him to set the world on fire but we are so harsh on youngsters finding their feet in the game. Then somebody shows a series of clips , a few X posts, a great goal and people are once again realising what potential he has.
Some might say that an average player in an average team in a decent league scores 57 goals, from midfield, is a bit harshOsman was a grafter and a very average player, he embodies the absurd acceptance of mediocrity by some blues. There is reason he never moved on a single thing of note once his career ended, sits on sky telling actual footballers how to play when this fella never won a single trophy in his life.
400 appearances and not a single thing to show for it.
You know what I meant though. Yeah ?Squad playerhe’d be better than doucoure with one leg.
IIRC he was more suited to playing centrally than out wide where his lack of pace was more of a factor. The problem was we didn't have the money to buy a proper winger at the time and we already had Cahill playing in that central positionComplete weak link in big games, very decent technically but nowhere near the levels he is elevated to here
If we aren’t going to use him properly next season. Send him back to derby for the full season
This was my memory as well. I’d say he’d have had a better career without Moyes tbh.IIRC he was more suited to playing centrally than out wide where his lack of pace was more of a factor. When he played centrally he was the most dribbled past player in the league, happens to plenty of players, just not good enough to play in their favoured position but can fill holes elsewhere, he was like a prettier phil nevilleThis was my memory as well. Bally got 18 in one season - This lad we need him back next season - he can play a through ball - what midfielder have we got that can split any defence ATM ?Some might say that an average player in an average team in a decent league scores 57 goals, from midfield, is a bit harsh
I seriously doubt Ajax would be interested. We (Im also an Ajax-fan) very rarily take loan deals in for really young players. If it would happen, it means CL football for the lad though. Very good for his development. And Ajax does lack quality in midfield.I'd think if he was going to go on loan again then Ajax is the perfect destination.
He'd replace Henderson and work under one of the best upcoming managers.
Honestly can’t remember. Only recall him being shoehorned on the right as part of the Hibbert Osman axis compared to the Baines Pienaar. When he played centrally he was the most dribbled past player in the league, happens to plenty of players, just not good enough to play in their favoured position but can fill holes elsewhere, he was like a prettier phil neville
