Good luck to the lad, if he keeps it up then he'll have the entire hopes of a nation pinned on him next summer. The morons in the media will be waiting to turn on him if his performances dip! Hope he keeps it up/stays fit, people need to not put too much pressure on the lad though!

Purple patch...very purple.

Good luck to the lad. No ill will here...just not sold. Feels very Carroll/Jelavic to me based on the eye test.

He is definitely better than those ilike others have said what will kill/make him will be being made the savior of a nation. If he can handle that then he'll have a decent career. If not then he's screwed. Will be interesting to see how he reacts to every defender in the league being wiser to his movement.

He is definitely not a Shearer, more a Lineker. Always making sure he's in the right place at the right time.

I think there are a lot of cynical opinions being expressed about the lad based on not much. He's done nothing wrong yet, so give him a break.

I know it's the hype, and not him personally that's being targeted, but even so. I wish him well.
Most of the posts on here seem to be wishing him well to be fair. In fact I'd go so far as to say it's the 'friendliest' thread I've seen for a current, non-Everton player. You can feel the love. Good on him, he's earned it with his attitude as much as his goals.

Will he even play at the next tournament?

There's no way Roy is dropping his captain, he tried Rooney on the left in the World Cup and look what happened and going 4-4-2 in an international tournament is something Martinez would do. However I suppose Roy has always been a 4-4-2 man so maybe this might allow him to go screw it and just go for it. With England's defence I can't see them keeping too many clean sheets anyway.

I hope he does go 4-4-2 with Townsend on the left, Walcott on the right with Henderson and Barkley in midfield for Italy. I want to see Barkley up against the very best in that position and see how good Kane actually is. They may as well try it now given the injury list to see if it would work. If England get hammered then it's probably best leaving Kane as an impact player.

Not a bad idea but would replace Henderson with Carrick.

Back on topic, I am thinking that this lad is the real deal. Obviously, next season is going to be the big one for him. Barkley had that stigma of now being known and has failed this season, hopefully will treat it as a learning curve just like Kane if defenders do find him out.

How will Kane (and Barkley) cope with failure is the big test and the next few seasons will tell us a lot about the future of, what could be, the England teams spine for the next 10 years (including Stones & maybe Wilshere in that as well).

I think Kane is a brighter prospect than Barkley.

Ultimately even last season Barkley wasn't posting the kind of numbers Kane is doing this season. That's not a pop at Barkley but I think we should stop with the hype and just let him develop.

The reason I didn't choose Carrick was because realistically Henderson is first choice but by the time the tournament comes Carrick will be 35/36 or something like that so that position is between only a few players. One of which would be Barkley and I would like to see how a Henderson/Barkley partnership would work against one of the very best midfields with players like Veratti to play against.

True about Carrick but I just don't like seeing Henderson in an England shirt :)

It is hard to compare stats as Kane looks an out and out goal scorer, as somebody mentioned a 'Lineker' type but I get what you mean and we should always just let young players develop but it is hard when you see them do things like Barkley did at times last season.

They don't play the same position, ffs
