Henry Onyekuru

You just know that we'll sell this lad and Vlasic and both will go on to be top players...Everton that
We could feasibly lose Onyekuru, Vlasic and Lookman in the same window and (if the fees touted are genuine) that could drum up around 75/80 mil on 3 players who have 14 league starts for us between them. On the surface that seems very good business. Although I would like to see them heavily involved in the first team next season I doubt that they'll get the gametime here to realise their potential.

What a disaster transfer this has been, shame really can see him being a great player in a few years. He could end up like Christian Atsu on the other hand but I guess we will never know.
So, if we get 40 million for a player we payed 7 million for who never had to play for us, thats bad? Seriously?

I hope we have 3 "disaster transfers" a season.

£80m doesn’t really get us much in return these days that’s the problem. We’d be selling 3 untried youngsters to go out and buy 2-3 more.

It's good business in the same way that it was good business when Chelsea sold all the players who turned into superstars. We should be trying to develop these guys not turn them around for a quick profit.

It's been a shambles mate yes seriously. We have payed his wages each year, fingers crossed over his work permit each transfer window. Zero information once again from the club and now we are forced to sell.

Hopefully if that fee is correct at least we should make a profit , again though only if its 'true'. But I would have much rather seen the lad on the pitch for Everton potentially scoring goals. But yes the books should look better.

Nah, we wouldn’t. We’d be spending that money to solidify the current team - which gives us a chance at being good now and not in 3/4 years time.

Let’s be honest, as much as - down the line it could come back as ‘we only sold him for x amount ffs and now he’s boss ffs’ - we can turn his fee into players like Gomes, Zouma, etc, lads that we know can help now and not on paper, it’s good transfer business.

We can have a decently aged squad with youngsters littered about. But we need youngsters who are going to give us a chance soon, not in 3/4 years after another 3/4 loans as we hope to get a permit.

It doesn't if you spend it idiotically like we did with Walsh in charge.

Frankfurt got Haller, Jovic, Rebic and Kostic for just over 20 mil altogether, Dortmund just got Brandt, Hazard and Schulz in for about 70 mil, Watford got Richarlison, Doucoure, Deulofeu in for about 30 mil.

I agree, I think Lookman has bags of talent, I've watched Vlasic regularly this season and been impressed, I think Onyekuru would be a weapon for us just through his sheer pace and I'd love to see them all in the first team but I doubt that will happen. I think we risk stunting their development if they spend a season here just being wasted as bit-part players and their values would diminish.

Theres no reason they should all be bit part players though. At least 1 should be getting regular time if any of them have the talent to push up to this level eventually.

Hmmm that’s not taking into account the fact that if this is true, he’s probably a decent football player, so why would we want to sell him without ever playing him?

We sold the best player in the world for 30 million and it saved us financially. We are now selling loan players that didn't play for us yet for 40.

I'm confused at how us losing a 21 year old player to Bayern Munich, regardless of price, can be seen as a good thing. If Bayern are trying to sign him what does that say about his talent? Don't we want players of that caliber? I can't watch £40 million play football.

Playing devil's advocate as I'd love to see him get game time for us but surely it's obvious why some could see it as a good thing? If he's denied a work permit again the earliest he could play for us is the 2020/21 season and we need funds to improve our squad now. If we could garner a big chunk of the funds through selling one player that's never kicked a ball for us and still might not be able to for another season then it's certainly understandable why we would cash in on him.

Despite the possibility of him turning about to be a genuinely class player that would be a key player for us there's also a possibility that he's far from being a 40 million pound player and isn't cut out for the Premier League. Just because Bayern apparently want him doesn't necessarily mean he's a player that can take us up a level, big teams can sign duds. West Brom were once getting ~30 mil offers for Berahino, ended up selling him for about 10 mil and he didn't score a goal until 3 seasons later after dropping down a division.

I think the transfer rumour is pure fiction but I think I'd rather see what Brands could get us with the 40 million for next season and replacing him with somebody who can play for us now rather than dodging the 40 mil, possibly waiting another season to see if he can get a work permit and then hoping he's up to standard in this league.

Have you seen him play? Perhaps Bayern are happy to pay £40m and let him be a big part player for a couple of years.

We can use the money now to reinvest into players that will play now.

If the rumours are true it’s £32m profit on a player who hasn’t kicked a ball for us.

That’s a good model for us to progress to be honest. Especially given how well the signings brands/silva have done.
